Musicians plan May brunch
The South Miami Music Club will hold its annual May Breakfast Thursday, May 20, at the Coral Gables Country Club, at noon. Chairman for the day will be Mrs. Ralph Evans. Officers for the coming year will be installed by Mrs. George Deen, president of the Royal Poinciana District of the Florida Federation of Music Clubs. New officers are: president Mrs. Clyde Higgins; first vice-president, Mrs. Joseph Reddy; second vice-president, Mrs. Ralph Evans; recording-secretary, Mrs. Don R. Thompson; corresponding secretary, Mrs. Thomas Knight; treasurer, Mrs. L. J. Powers; first director, Mrs. J. W. McMonagle; second director, Mrs. J. W. Shank. A musical program will follow with piano recitals by the Club's two scholarship winners, Diane Wagner and Franci Talbot and the South Miami Music Club Choral, under the direction of Mrs. Carlyle Brand, offering popular selections of the day.
Senior citizens
Florida State Council of Senior Citizens will hold its annual convention in Miami Beach May Wednesday and Thursday, May 19-20 at the DiLido Hotel. Issues vital to the older citizens will be discussed and forwarded to the National Council. All members of Florida Senior Citizens Club #3 Coral Gables, are invited to attend. The Coral Gables Knights of Columbus will have their monthly Fish Fry and Birthday Night dinner and dance Friday, May 21, at the Coral Gables Council Hall, 270 Catalonia Ave., at 6:30 p.m.
Collie club
The Collie Club of Greater Miami is holding its Annual Spring Match Sunday, May 23, at the Carrollton School, 3747 Main Highway, Coconut Grove. All Collie owners from the southwest area are invited to participate. Judging begins at 10 a.m. with judge, Mrs. John Leslie, of Leslie Dane Kennel, as judge. Entries will be taken until the day of the show at 10 a.m. Admission is free and refreshments will be available.
Friends Unlimited
Friends Unlimited, for single, widowed, and divorcees between the ages of 30 and 50, invites members of the southwest area community to join them every Friday at 9:30 p.m., at Temple Beth Am's Youth Lounge, 5950 N. Kendall Dr. Friday, May 21, Lucky Estrin, family therapist, will discuss "How to Survive as an Adult." Donations will be accepted at the door.
Clipper club
Clipper Club, the wives of Pan American Pilots and Engineers, will meet at the Columbus Green Motor House, day, May 20, for lunch and installation of new officers. They are: president, Sue Scroggins; vice-president, Joan Carson; secretary, Jan Carroll; treasurer, Genee Smith. Sue Scroggins, as the new president, will also report to the membership that the club's donation amounted to more than $700 contributed to such local organizations as South Miami Hospital.
B.O.L.D.
B.O.L.D., Broader Opportunities for Learning Disabilities, will hold a meeting Thursday, May 20, at Gulliver Academy, 7700 Miller Rd., at 7:30 p.m. Speakers will be Dr. Douglas Gortvong and Dr. Hobart Feldman, who will speak on food additives and allergies, as related to learning disabilities. A film on "Dyslexia — The Hidden Handicap" will precede their talk. Admission is free and the public is welcome.
Parish women
Saint Richard Parish Women's Club will be holding a charity garage sale Saturday, May 22 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 8370 SW 149th Dr. Furniture, clothing, plants, odds and ends and refreshments will be available. Proceeds from the garage sale will benefit migrant workers.

Martha Torano of SW 82nd Avenue is off and running as she practices for the big show of the Sleepy Hollow Riders May 22 and 23 at the Blue Ribbon Stables, 6105 SW 125th Ave. Members are 18 and younger, and they're doing all the work for a charitable cause — the Childhood Cancer program of the American Cancer Society. There'll be two rings and continuous shows beginning at 8:30 a.m. daily. Admission is free. Funds are derived from sponsors and food sales.
