Coral Gables Koert W. Hughes of 2341 Ponce de Leon Blvd., reported someone smashed the right vent window of hiis car and stole a Kodak Instamatic camera and various insurance papers. Lawrence L. Peer, 20, of 384 Minorca Ave., had his four hubcaps stolen from his automobile, but police recovered them. Terry L. Solomon, 21, reported his wire wheel hubcaps were stolen while he was parked at 2051 LeJeune Rd. The hubcaps were new and had recently been replaced after someone stole the original ones. Jack Freedman, 340 San Lorenzo, was notified that his boat sunk to the bottom of the Gables Waterway where it had been docked. Karen L. Wilson, 18, of 601 SW 39th Ct., reported someone stole her clothes from the dryer at the Gables Coin Wash, 3954 SW Eighth St. Gary R. Slomin, 5116 Red Rd., reported someone took his CB antenna off his 1977 Vega while it was parked at the University of Miami campus. Paulette E. Babbitt, 30, of 4301 SW 84th Ct., reported someone broke into her car while it was parked at 800 Douglas Rd., and stole a tennis racket, a gold necklace and child's clothing. William Dyess, 1739 Dickinson Dr., reported someone stole an eight track tape player and a flashlight from his car while it was parked at 5550 San Amaro Dr. Sarah C. Barnes, 1205 Mariposa, reported a neighbor in her apartment building found her purse in the elevator after it had been stolen. The only thing taken was $38 in cash. West Dade A nine-year-old West Dade girl reported that while she was playing near Fairchild Elementary School, in the 4400 block of SW 57th Avenue, a man clad only in a blue shirt emerged from an old, red Volkswagen. She said he walked around the car, got back in and drove away. Chris Sante of 10021 SW 45th St., reported that someone broke into the patio of his home and stole $830 worth.of tools and a tool box sometime Sunday, Feb. 6. Ruth Offen, 24, reported that while attending the Around the World Fair at Tropical Park, Saturday, Feb. 5, someone stole her purse. She said she left it in a computer printing booth and when she returned, the purse was gone. Employees of the Eagle Army Navy store, 9696 SW 40th St., reported that on Friday, Jan. 4, a burglary alarm sounded. When they investigated, the rear door of the store was found pried open, but vandals didn't gain entry. Police officers P. Hegele and Victor Parets reported that their helmets were stolen from their private motorcycles parked behind the police station at 113th Avenue and SW 40th Street. The helmets are valued at $50. Ronald Allen, 15201 SW 109th Ave., reported that on Monday, Feb. 7 someone broke out the west front window of his home. Joyce Chandler, 11231 SW 201st St., reported that on Monday, Feb. 7 someone broke into her home and took cash, jewelry and a revolver worth $970. Annie Lee McKinney, 11370 SW 214th St., reported that on Monday, Feb. 7, while she was home, someone entered her home and removed food stamps and a television worth $400. Barbara Potts, 7840 SW 157th Terr., reported that a $200 watch was stolen when someone broke into her home through the patio Sunday, Feb. 6. Employees of the Arnold Cellaphane Corp., 20400 SW 112th Ave., reported that calculators and a radio worth a total of $1,340 were stolen between Saturday, Feb. 5 and Monday, Feb. 7. South Miami Richard Macvicar, 22, 7111 SW 42nd Ter., was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana Feb. 7 after an investigation of his car by South Miami Police Officer C.D. Romine. Macvicar, skateboarding inside the grounds of Ludlam Elementary School, 6639 SW 74th St., was ordered off the school grounds by Officer Romine. When the officer approached Macvicar's car, he smelled the marijuana and saw two bags of the drug on or under the front seat. Ludlam Elementary School, 6639 SW 74th St., was evacuated Monday morning, Feb. 7, after an employe in the school's office, Gloria Totol, reported a phone call from a woman with a cultured voice telling of a bomb planted in the school. Following the evacuation, South Miami police made a thorough search for the bomb, with no results.
