Central Plaza's Fair Is Today

—ADVERTISEMENT— They are whooping it up in nostalgic fashion today through Saturday at the Central Shopping Plaza, NW 7th St. and 37th Ave., with an old-time Country Fair. "We thought that we would do something different from the usual extravaganzas and spectaculars so customary today," explains Frank Bollinger, promotions director for the center. The Country Fair is a community effort with approximately 20 non-profit organizations setting up booths to put on everything from Indian War Dances to selling sauerkraut. Boothholders will also sell hot dogs, cotton candy, popcorn, handicraft articles, show exhibits, and hand out promotional material for enlarging memberships. There will be a glass blowing demonstration, a Kids Dog Show and an old-fashioned square dance Saturday night. Those who have an eye for bargain buying will want to shop with their fun making during the center-wide sale being conducted by the Central Plaza merchants. Dog lovers will be presented with a rare opportunity to see several of the world's unique breeds thanks to Tom Homberger and his Comfort Kennels of Hialeah. Youngsters to 18 years old may compete for 25 prizes in the show to be given out for the largest, smallest, shaggiest, best costumed, most popular, best behaved, and Best of Show dogs. The winner of the Best of Show will be presented with an expensive Miniature Italian Greyhound. These dogs sell for $200-1,000 each. The dog will be donated by Comfort Kennels. The Kids Dog Show is sponsored by the Ken-L-Ration Co. An interesting exhibit which is akin to the dog show, will be the booth set up by the Humane Society. Following are a few of the organizations and the items they will sell or exhibit: Boys' Club of Miami — (1 booth) handicraft articles, club activities.
