CG Federal Acquires 25 More Feet

Coral Gables Federal Savings and Loan Association has made plans to expand beyond the scope recently revealed in requesting permission from the city to go six stories. The financial institution has purchased an additional 25 feet on Ponce de Leon Boulevard just south of the present building, according to Robert Hildreth, vice president in charge of public relations. Hildreth said Tuesday that the extra frontage will enable Coral Gables Federal to set up a home mortgage department on the ground floor which will remain open later than other facets of the institution's operation. Construction is to start later this year. Coral Gables Federal received an okay from the City Commission recently to build a five-story addition after requesting six stories. The question of the addition was left open, however, when the Commission indicated it would approve another floor if a high rise building survey now underway supported the plan. Included in the plans is a community room with complete kitchen facilities, public address system and stage which will be made available to the public.
