AT THE COUNTRY CLUB A Shower of Awards Monday
SALLY FULLER AND JOHN JAMIESON display the trophies they won at the First Annual Labor Day Awards Program at the Coral Gables Country Club. Sally won the President's Cup in the Women's Tennis Singles, while John took the cup for the Men's Division. Awards, awards, and more awards were awarded at the first annual Labor Day Awards program at the Coral Gables Country Club Monday night. Club president Larry Larrimore presented trophies and medals to numerous top players in the golf, tennis, bridge, and swimming divisions. The events were scheduled over Sunday and Monday, although the Contract Bridge Tournament lasted three days. Ann McClain took the winners cup in the Ladies Low Net Golf Tournament, and Mrs. Mary McCraken was runner up. Title of Men's Low Net Winner was shared by Robert Walker and Fred Cole, who tied. Junior Low Gross in the Men's Division winner was Richard Culver. There were about 80 entries in the Golf Play-offs. In the tennis tournament, winners of the Presidents' Cup were, in the Women's Division, Mrs. Sally Fuller, singles; and in the Mens' Division, John Jameison, singles. Runners-up were Mary Babbit and Steve Menke. In the doubles, Merry Belle Macy and Margaret Babbett took the Women's prize, and runners-up were Sally Fuller and Flo Oikoski. Mens' winners were Jack Kinnin and Bob Rohe, with Win Rowley and Charley Sharp following second. There were over 50 entries in the tennis matches. Out of 350 entries in the 48 different swimming events, 12 took home trophies. They were: Eight-year girls, Wendy Fordyce; eight-year boys, Steve Miller; 10-year girls, Debbie Findeisen; 10-year boys, Clark Miller; 12-year girls, Pamela Kruse; 12-year boys, Jerry Peterson; 14-year girls, Vickie Hessen; 14-year boys, Rick DeBeare; 16-year girls, Meredith Crisswell; and 16-year boys, Rick Robbins. Senior Womens Champion Swimmer was Mrs. Nancy McLeod, and Senior Mens Champion was Ray Fordyce. The swimming competition also yielded 150 medals to win and place swimmers in the different events. Overall winners for the three-day Contract Bridge Tourney were Mrs. J. H. Wilson, and Robert Oberholtzer, runner-up. The awards program will be continued as an annual event every Labor Day from now on.

Groom Skips His Wedding, Tells Bride 'I'm Sorry'
Two-hundred guests went to the Dupont Plaza to see Gerald Stanley Bush wed Shari Richman Sunday. Everybody showed up—except the bridegroom. Shari, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Richman, 737 Paradiso Ave., had no comment Monday. She received a telegram from Gerald 90 minutes after the scheduled wedding time. "I'm sorry. Please forgive me," it read. The guests left and the families returned home. The wedding gifts are being returned. Gerald is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Murray Bush, 2020 SW 24th Ter. He is an honor graduate of the Citadel and currently employed as an electrical engineer for General Electric in Syracuse, N.Y. Shari, 21, graduated this summer from the University of Miami where she was a member of Alpha Epsilon Phi Social Sorority.

The South Dade Deanery of Holy Name Societies will hold a breakfast meeting at St. Peter and Paul Church, 900 SW 26th Rd., Sunday. Included in the program will be nomination and election of officers of the Deanery, reports of the presidents of 10 parish societies, and presentation of "Its Later, Much Later, Than You Think," by Juan P. Waddell.
