Donia Clarke, Gables Girl, Ties Knot in Germany

MRS. CLYDE NELSON SEDGWICK On a honeymoon trip to the Bavarian Mountains are Capt. and Mrs. Clyde Nelson Sedgwick following their marriage Saturday in Gienhausen, Germany. The bride is the former Miss Donia Anne Clarke. A graduate of Coral Gables High School, she is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Clarke, now of 12601 SW 84th Rd., for 30 years of Coconut Grove. The groom is the son of Capt. William D. Sedgwick of Whittier, Calif. The wedding was held at 4 p.m. Saturday, in the Coleman Chapel and the couple pledged their vows in a double ring ceremony before an altar banked in white roses. Dolores Walters was soloist and Mrs. Margaret Whichard was organist. For her wedding, the bride wore a floor - length gown of Chantilly lace and French illusion, designed with fitted bodice, long sleeves, and Sabrina neckline. The skirt of illusion had a panel in the back extending into a chapel train and she carried a bouquet of lillies of the valley with white velvet leaves, centered with a white orchid. The bride's five attendants were all from the U.S. They were Miss Yvonne Foster, honor maid, of Lincoln University, Penna; and bridesmaids, Cecelia Mehlick, Springfield, Ill.; Grace Wilder, Boston, Mass.; Lenora Kettwick, Buffalo Center, Iowa; and Mary Szoakow-ski, Palo Alto, Calif. The flower girl was Gisla Kreibs, a German girl. The attendants wore waltz - length gowns in deep raspberry - red velvet, with matching headbands and carried butterfly roses. Lt. John S. Gibbs was best man. Ushers were Cpat. Joe Estores and Lieutenants James G. Lee, Joe Schwar Jr., William D. Williams, Charles Walters, Warren G. Millett, William Stoft and Lomaz Goathomey. All were in dress blue uniforms and they formed the traditional arch with their sabers under which the bride and groom made their exit. The bride is a graduate of the University of Florida where she was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority. She is also a past member of the Miami Spinsters Club. The groom was graduated from Oregon State University where he was a member of Delta Chi fraternity.

Maurice Barancik, son of Dr. and Mrs. Henry Barancik, 437 Velarde Ave., has completed military orientation courses at the Medical Field Service School, Brooke Army Medical Center, Fort Sam Houston. A 1953 graduate of Coral Gables High School, he attended the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Mich. * * * Carol Cole, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Cole, 710 Paradiso Ave., is chairman of the annual George Washington Ball the Tequesta Society, Children of the American Revolution, will give Friday night at the Riviera Country Club. * * * Nancy McLeod, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. McLeod Jr., of 1233 Alegriano Ave., is reservations chairman. Barbara Beckham, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Beckham Jr., 4209 Santa Maria St., is in charge of refreshments. * * * The Coco Plum Woman's Club, 1375 Sunset Dr., will be the place of meeting today (Thursday) for the South Miami Music Club's annual "Parade of American Music." The program will consist of six different types of American music with the club's chorus, under the direction of Mrs. C. F. Brand, singing.
