Hopps Wed at First Presbyterian
First Presbyterian Church was the scene Saturday afternoon of the candlelight wedding of Judith Marie Day, daughter of Mrs. Evelyn Moran Day, 537 Alcazar Ave., and the late J. Donald Day, Wintersville, Ohio, to Gordon Lee Hopps. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Lee Hopps, who recently moved to 40 Salamanca Ave. from Rochester, N.Y. Given in marriage by her uncle, Julian V. Day, Los Angeles, the bride wore a peau de soie gown designed with a sabrina neckline and Alencon lace. The full skirt terminated in a chapel train. Her finger-tip veil fell from a crown of lace and pearls. She carried a cascade of white rosebuds and stephanotis with eucalyptus. Her attendants chose sapphire blue satin sheaths with overskirts and matching hats. Their bouquets were tropicana roses and eucalyptus. Sister of the bride, Jean Day, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Julian D. Vanderslice, sister of the bride, and Mrs. David Lee Duckworth. Father of the groom was best man. Ushers were Julian D. Vanderslice, David Lee Duckworth and Randolph Vega. After a two-week wedding trip to North Carolina, the couple will reside at 44 Santillane. A graduate of Coral Gables High School, the bride attended Florida State University. The groom attended Cornell University, where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. MRS. Martin S. Wales Jr., son of Mrs. Vivian M. Wales, 611 Altara Ave., recently completed recruit training at the Naval Training Center, San Diego. Gilbert J. Dunmire, owner of the Dunmire Garage, 241 Almeria Avenue, was operated on at Baptist Hospital where doctors removed a tumor on Oct. 1, his wife said. Mrs. Dunmire reported that her husband is improving and should be able to reopen the garage in about three weeks. He plans to hire a mechanic and supervise his work rather than do it himself as he has in the past. At the present, Dunmire is resting and enjoying the World Series on television. John Lief Erickson, son of Erick Otto Erickson, 2107 Alhambra Cir., has been elected president of the freshman class at Florida State University for the school year 1962-63. Sharon Bimel of Coral Gables is one of the 28 Rollins College students selected as members of the 60-voice Rollins Chapel Choir.

IAN A. NIMMO Ian Alastair Nimmo, Georgia Tech graduate student, is the recepient of a $1,000 Chemical Market Research Association's Fellowship Award. After receiving a bachelor of chemical engineering degree from Georgia Tech this past June, Nimmo is presently pursuing graduate work in the School of Industrial Management. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Harold Nimmo, 6219 Cellini. City Manager L. W. Robinson Jr. left Wednesday to attend the International City Manager's Association conference in Philadelphia, Oct. 14 to 17. The Robinsons, wife Mary and daughter Ann, will go by way of Augusta and Atlanta and visit Washington.
