UM Publicist Howland Leaving
"With this issue, William S. Howland, editor of 'Veritas' since UM resumed publishing a weekly news letter two years ago, must say goodbye to readers of the publication, all of whom he considers 'gentle' and highly cooperative." Thus did the University of Miami's director of public information announce a change in jobs this week — for himself. He is now the executive secretary of the Citizens Advisory Committee on Urban Renewal for the mayor of Atlanta. Howland was at the University from May, 1957, until the present. Before that, he was with Time magazine in Atlanta for 17 1/2 years as head of its Southern news bureau. In leaving, Howland added: "If I were 15 years younger, I would like nothing so well as to be a member of the team of contemporaries which Dr. Stanford (the new president) will be forming to carry our University on to new heights of achievement. "However, unfortunately, wishes are not retroactive horses and I cannot call back those years. "It is a fitting time for me to accept the challenging opportunity offered unexpectedly by my old friend, Ivan Allen Jr., mayor of the city where I lived for many years and where my children reside." The Howlands will keep their home near the University.

Geoffrey's First Money Takes Him Down Keys
A TIMES Carrier! Geoffrey Hunt, 13, is so interested in electronics his parents turned one of their poolside cabanas at home into a workshop for him. Geoffrey, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John E. Hunt, 3430 Alhambra Cir., is also interested in medicine. At this point he's not sure which he'd like to pursue as a career. The eighth grader at Ponce de Leon Junior High has been a Times carrier for a little longer than a month. When he got his first earnings recently, he knew just how to spend it. He spent it on a Boy Scout camping trip to the Keys last weekend with Troop 20, sponsored by Granada Presbyterian Church. Geoffrey's working toward second-class rank. Mrs. Hunt said she and her husband had no idea Geoffrey was interested in becoming a Times carrier. One day a month ago, he got the job, walked into his home and proudly told them about it. His route falls in an area bounded by Coral Way, Red Road, Sevilla Avenue and Granada Boulevard. GEOFFREY HUNT ... New & Proud
