Ruth Shipe Weds Native of Georgia
Granada Presbyterian Church was the scene Oct. 6 of the wedding of Ruth Whitney Shipe, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul E. Shipe, 3202 Alhambra Cir., and Dwight Shields Monk, Augusta, Ga. He is the son of Mrs. Mervin Harold, Graysville, Ind., and the late Mr. Monk. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a silk satin gown designed with a portrait neckline and point-to-finger sleeves. The fitted bodice was trimmed with rose point lace. Her bell-shaped skirt with lace appliques was draped to the back in soft pleats falling in a chapel train. A bouffant veil of silk French illusion fell from a matching chapeau. The rose point lace on the bride's gown came from her mother and grandmother's wedding gowns. She wore a seed pearl necklace which her father gave her mother as a wedding gift. Her attendants were dressed in floor-length gowns of Dior blue satin with panniers of romance blue which fell over bell-shaped skirts. Maid of honor was Susan Thompson, Brookline, Mass. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Leonard Compres, Brantley Richardson and Dian Dane. Charles Barry Whitney Jr., Augusta, was best man. Ushers were Barry Johnson, Moragna A. Whitney Jr., Philip J. Landreville and Robert Meyer. Groomsmen were Duane Monk, Lester Monk and Paul E. Ship Jr. The bride is a graduate of Coral Gables High School, Rollins College, Roanoke, and the University of Miami. The groom is a graduate of Indiana State University. They will live in Augusta. MRS. DWIGHT SHIELDS MONK

Dr. Henry King Stanford, president of University of Miami, and his wife will meet members of the University of Miami Women's Club this afternoon (Thursday) in their club room at San Sebastian, University Drive. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Rothrock, 1454 Siena Ave., recently spent a weekend at Dorado Beach, Puerto Rico. ★ ★ ★ Dr. Frances B. Glenn, 1200 Hardee Rd., recently attended the Academy of Pedodontics meeting in Boulder, Col., and will be listed in the 3rd edition of "Who's Who in American Women." ★ ★ ★ Leslie Snyder, the daughter of mrs. Owen Bowser of 4100 Riviera Dr. and Berry Snyder, of 917 Paradiso Ave., has pledged Chi Omego sorority at the University of Kentucky. Mrs. Bowser, who just returned from taking Leslie to Lexington last week, is going back to Kentucky this week. She and her husband also will stop in Rome, Ga., to visit Mr. Bowser's son, Fred, who attends Darlington School.

Beverly Sutor to Marry J. L. Travers in January
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas M. Sutor, 5313 Granada Blvd., announce the engagment of their daughter, Beverly, to James L. Travers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph L. Travers, Stoneham, Mass. A January wedding is planned. A graduate of Coral Gables High, Beverly attended Florida State University. She is a stewardess with Eastern Air Lines, and lives at 1518 Monza Ave. Her fiance is a business major at the University of Miami. He will be graduated in June. BEVERLY SUTOR

Opera Patronesses To Be Honored
Arturo and Lee di Filippe. are having a "homecoming party" for all the Young Patronesses of the Opera, and their husbands at their home at 625 SW 29th Rd., from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Oct. 28. The di Filippis' recently returned from Europe where they booked stars for the Opera Guild's 1964 season.
