Congregation. Will Observe Harvest Sunday
Sunday morning at Plymouth Congregational Church will be Harvest Sunday. The altar will be decorated with harvest fruits and vegetables, as a symbol of the blessings of God. Dr. David J. Davis will preach a sermon entitled "Becoming Rich Toward God." The senior Choir and the Children's Choir will participate in the services. Marilyn Pearce will sing "Hymn of Thanksgiving." Plymouth Church will hold its annual Thanksgiving Day Service at 9 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 24. The Rev. Jack A. Smith will give a Thanksgiving message entitled "Pilgrims In A Space Age." The Junior Choir under the direction of Mary Ellison will provide special music for this service.
Scientists Invite Public On Thanksgiving
Special Thanksgiving services are announced by First Church of Christ, Scientist, Coral Gables, for 9:30 and 11 a.m. Thanksgiving Day. Open to the general public, the services will be held in the church at 410 Andalusia Ave. No collections will be taken. Expressions of praise and gratitude to God will be read from the Bible and also from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy in a lesson-sermon for the day entitled "Thanksgiving." The Golden Text is from Reve on (7-12): "Blessing, and glory, and wisom, and thanks-giving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever." The latter portion of the service will be devoted to voluntary expressions of gratitude by members of the congregation for God's goodness shown in spiritual growth, healings, and other blessings.
Baptist University Honors Gableite
Alfred J. Lewallen, 1210 Alfonso Ave., was one of three alumni of Oklahoma Baptist University to be honored at an Alumni Achievement Awards Dinner at Shawnee, Okla. A feature of the university Homecoming, the alumni awards have been given for two years. Lewallen was student body president at the university, 1931-32. A chartered life underwriter, Lewallen was recently elected to the executive committee of the Million Dollar Round Table, an organization of life insurance men who sell a million dollars of insurance in a year.

Harold Cole Is Bar Mitzvah
Rabbi Morris A. Skop, spiritual leader of Temple Judea, will speak on the theme "In Love with Life" a the Sabbath Service on Friday, Nov. 18, at 8:15 p.m. Oneg Shabbat will be tendered by the Sisterhood immediately following the Service. On Saturday, Nov. 19, at 10:30 a.m., during the Torah Service, Rabbi Skop and Cantor Herman K. Gottlieb will officiate at the Bar Mitzvah of Harold Cole, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Cole. Harold has been a member of the Hebrew School for the past seven years. His parents will be hosts at the Kiddush-Santification immediately following the service in his honor.
St. Brendan's To Open Sixth Annual Carnival
St. Brendan's Church will hold its sixth annual carnival on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 18 through 20, at SW 32nd St. and 87th Ave. There will be booths, rides, a ferris wheel, prizes and refreshments. As an added attraction for the children, Charlie Baxter and Willie the Moose will appear in person from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday. There will also be a Prince and Princess, King and Queen Contest with prizes given to the winners. Judging will be on Sunday afternoon.
Brotherhood Group Re-elects Richard Wolfson
Richard Wolfson, 630 University Dr., vice president of Wometco Enterprises, Inc., has been re-elected as a member of the national board of trustees of the National Conference of Christians and Jews. Wolfson, an active participant in the civic affairs of Dade County, has been a member of the Board of Governors of the Florida Region of the National Conference of Christians and Jews for the past three years. He is currently a member of the Florida executive committee. In Florida the National Conference activities are headed by Leo A. Furlng Jr., John Serbin and Dr. C. Doren Tharp, co-chairmen of the Board of Governors.
Presbyterians Will Begin Canvass
The Rev. John D. Henderson, pastor of the Riviera Presbyterian Church, announces the Every Member Church Canvass will begin this week with special services at 8:30 a.m., 9:45 a.m. and 11 a.m. Sunday at which time the plans will be unfolded. Beginning Monday, 65 laymen will call on members in the evening, also on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings to receive pledges

At South Miami First Methodist Missionary To Peru Will Preach Sunday
The Rev. Richard Petry, Methodist Missionary to Peru, will preach at the 8:30 and 11 a.m. services at the First Methodist Church of South Miami on Sunday, Oct. 20. Mr. Petry, a native of Florida has just completed a year of language school in Costa Rica and will sail for Peru in December. He formerly played football for the University of Florida and is a graduate of Florida and the Candler School of Theology at Emory University in Georgia. He organized and built the Wesconnett Methodist Church in Jacksonville before being called to the mission field.
Grove Baptists Will Sponsor Harvest Revival
The Rev. Walter H. Salter Jr. of Kingsland, Ga., will be the evangelist for a Thanksgiving Harvest Revival at the Coconut Grove Baptist Church, 3220 Virginia St., during the week of Nov. 20-27. Also featured each evening of the revival will be Mrs. Evelyn Bradley, local gospel artist, who will present the gospel story each evening in a dynamic and colorful portrayal. Multi-colored lights will be used to bring out various aspects of the painting once it is completed. Mr. John Christmas, minister of music, will direct the "old-fashioned" gospel singing, and will also conduct the Revival Hour Choir in special music. Rev. Salter is pastor of the First Baptist Church, Kingsland and is the son of the Rev. W. H. Salter, well-known denominational leader and pastor in north Florida. The special services will begin each evening at 7:20. A free nursery will be provided for babies and toddlers. The public is invited to attend. The Rev. James C. Bryant is pastor of the church.
Jews In Strange Lands
At the morning services, the Chancel Choir will sing "The Heavens Are Telling" with Glenda Dell, soprano; Don Hazouri, tenor; Paul Marino, baritone and Frank Calhoun, baritone. The Men's Chorus, under the direction of Glenn Draper, minister of music, will sing at the 7:30 service. * * * The South Miami Community Thanksgiving Service will be held this year at the First Methodist Church of South Miami, Ponce de Leon Blvd. at Red Road,on Wednesday, Nov. 23, 7:30 p.m. Ministers of the community will participate. The Rev. Max Morris, pastor of the First Baptist Church of South Miami, will preach. Music will be provided by the Chancel Choir and the Children's Choirs under the direction of Glenn Draper, minister of music. The anthem will be "The Heavens Are Telling" by Hayden with Harriet Mertz, soprano; Don Hazouri, tenor and Paul Marino, baritone. Dr. Ralph B. Houston will be the host pastor. Members of the community are invited to join together in this union service of Thanksgiving. On Sunday, Nov. 20, at 10:30 a.m., at the Adult Forum, Rabbi Herbert M. Baumgard of Temple Beth Am will present a lecture on the theme, "Jews in Strange Lands."

Marc Hauser Will Be Bar Mitzvah Saturday
