The former president said he expects to transfer his business interests outside the Coral Gables area. Friedman, owner of Ro'al Apparel and Accessories, 348 Miracle Mile, comes to the leadership in the midst of a reshuffling of personnel in the Chamber of Commerce. Chamber Manager Ed Baumel resigned recently and must be replaced by Jan. 1. Friedman, who lives at 425 Malaga, has been an active member of the RDM.

Lifetime Gables Resident Heads First National
ARTHUR LUNDEEN Arthur Lundeen, 37, lifetime resident of Coral Gables, has been named president of the Coral Gables First National Bank. Stanley H. Wolff, newly elected chairman of the board of the former Sottile bank, made the announcement. The bank's controlling stock was recently purchased by Jacques Mossler, Texas financier. Mossler controls three other banks, one of them being Central Bank and Trust Company of Miami. Wolff is also president of Central Bank in Allapattah. Varied Experience Lundeen brings a wide and varied background of experience to the bank. He has been a practicing attorney since 1952 when he was graduated cum laude from the University of Miami Law School. In 1957 he was named executive director of the Florida Judicial Council with offices in Tallahassee. Lundeen served this office with distinction until his resignation in 1959 to resume the practice of law in Miami. A veteran of both the Navy Air Force and the Army Air Force in World War II, Lundeen entered the University of Miami under the G.I. Bill. He worked as a lifeguard during the afternoons while an undergraduate. He attended Coral Gables Elementary School and Ponce de Leon High School. His first job was as a bag boy for Tanners Market in Coral Gables. Lundeen spent the early years after the war with Pan American Airways in Guatemala. Future Growth After his election by the Board of Directors, Lundeen said, "The future growth of Dade County can only be in one direction... to the Southwest. Coral Gables First National is strategically located in the hub of that growth. It is our duty and responsibility as the largest bank in the South Dade area to explore new avenues and new services for financial assistance to aid that growth." South Miami Takes The Lead In Yule Lighting
South Miami Chamber of Commerce, with the aid of some 30 South Miami Jaycees headed by President Bill Ussery Jr., got the jump on the Christmas season last weekend with the stringing of scores of Christmas lights across major city streets. According to Chamber Manager H. W. McDonald, some of the light strings were left over from last year's Christmas effort. But last years' strings and recently acquired strings all have come from Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce which formerly used the strings across Lincoln Road. No More Use The lights will be of no more use on Lincoln Road because of a mall being constructed there now. "Most of the strings already have been strung," MacDonald said, "thanks to the Jaycees and Florida Power and Light Co." MacDonald said all the strings will be strung by Thanksgiving so that the total of 100 strings can be turned on by Nov. 25. Loudspeakers In addition to the light strings, wreathes and garlands, the Chamber's Business and Professional Division is planning loudspeakers at two locations on Sunset Dr. for the playing of continuous Christmas music during the holidays. Two light poles will be erected, one near the city hall and one farther east on Sunset Dr. with strings of lights from the top of the pole to the ground in a circle around the base of the pole.
MARTIN H. FEINMAN, president of Modernage Furniture Corporation, has been invited to speak to the Southern Furniture Manufacturers Association, Nov. 17, at the Americana Hotel. From one small factory showroom in New York 35 years ago, Modernage has grown into a vast empire of over half a million square feet of manufacturing, warehousing and showroom facilities.
