No clues yet to stealthy cat burglar's identity

From Page 1 screen and opened the sliding glass door of the home of Antanas Stongvila, 730 Davis. Nothing was reported missing, but one room was ransacked as the residents slept upstairs. ● Between 2 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 14, both the home and car of Russell J. Seifertth, 720 Tiziano Ave., were entered. ● Between 2 a.m. and 7 a.m. Tuesday, July 13, the rear window of Katherine deBlij's home, 917 Paradiso Ave., was pushed in by a thief who entered the house and took a small amount of money and a bicycle. ● Sometime during the early morning hours of Tuesday, July 13, a cat burglar entered the home of Edward Bruce, 611 Santurce and took cash and jewelry. The thief gained entry by prying four jalousies from the front bedroom window. ● Acina Alvarez, 134 Cadima, told police at 8 a.m. Tuesday, July 13, that she heard a noise in back of her house and saw a man, about 18-years-old, trying to break in through a window. He was partially in the house when surprised by Ms. Alvarez. When he saw her, he fled by bicycle without taking anything. Koronkiewicz said police don't believe the teenager was responsible for the other burglaries. ● Between midnight and 6 a.m. Tuesday, July 13, a thief used a screwdriver or chisel to pry open the door of William Coyle's home at 1355 Blue Rd. Coyle told police that his Irish setter usually barks at strangers, but apparently the thief first entered the garage and fed the dog, before prying open the kitchen door and taking cash and two rifles. ● At 3:40 a.m. Tuesday, July 13, Mrs. William H. Cambell heard a noise downstairs in her home, 1340 Blue Rd. She went down to investigate and saw a white man running away. The patio screen door had been pushed open. Her husband later told police the thief had placed several items on the patio and had left behind a long brown hair. ● Between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. Monday, July 12, a thief used a hammer or similar tool to knock a hole in the front door of James Jefferson's house at 137 Florida. A portable television was taken, but the thief dropped it and ran when he was spotted by neighbors. ● Sometime during the evening of Monday, July 12, a second-story window was pried open at the home of Nelda N. Holmes, 2414 DeSoto Blvd., as the victim was sleeping downstairs. She woke, heard someone upstairs and left her home to call police. When they arrived, they discovered a window along the roof was open and two rooms were ransacked.
