Operation Santa will make dreams come true
By ANA MARIA ALVAREZ Staff Writer A toy for every needy child is what Operation Santa Claus in South Dade is all about. Every child, no matter how needy his or her parents may be, dreams of receiving a toy for Christmas. And you might be able to help the dream come true for the poor children who live in South Dade and Homestead. Sponsored by the Christian Community Service Agency, Operation Santa Claus wants to maintain the dignity of the unfortunate families involved in the program. Therefore, the kids will not receive their Christmas gifts from an agency, but the parents and relatives with whom they live will come and select a suitable gift for their children. On Christmas morning, these needy children will be able to open their holiday gift just as all other youngsters in town. The families who will receive the gifts represent different ethnic groups who live in the South Dade and Homestead areas. The children range from infancy to 12 years of age. Those wishing to donate toys or make a cash contribution are urged to send it or drop by the Christian Service Agency offices before Dec. 6. The Coral Gables office is located in 1205 Sunset Dr., 665-1120, and is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The South Dade office is located at 245 S. Krome Ave., 248-3995 and is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
