Awareness sessions start
"If life hands you a lemon, then make a lemonade," says Shirley Jacobs, leader of an awareness group just getting underway in her Westchester home. The group meets on Monday evenings and presently has room for five or six more members. "At our first session I gave each person an apple and had them study it carefully. Then we put them back on the table and mixed them up. Everyone was able to recognize his own apple," Mrs. Jacobs said. "That's what awareness is. Sometimes we don't recognize what is right in front of us." Mrs. Jacobs is willing to explore any subject the group wishes to discuss, anything that will help members cope with life. more effectively. "I want to teach people how to deal with criticism as well as how to accept a compliment graciously," she said. Mrs. Jacobs headed a group called "Therapy" six years ago and is a licensed family counselor. To join the group, call her at 264-8528. The fee is $2 for each session.
