'Onions in the Stew' To Play at Country Club

Coral Gables Country Club Theater Group begins its 15th consecutive season of amateur theatricals with "Onions in the Stew," a comedy opening Monday. The Betty MacDonald book has been dramatized by William Dalzell and Anne Coulter Martens. A light, wholesome story of the tribulations of life on an island in Puget Sound, it features a large cast of adults and teenagers under direction of Bill Stewart from the University of Miami Drama Department. Sam Elcook and Doris Plowden as Mr. and Mrs. MacDonald and Gloria Trippodo and Helen Grossman as their teenage daughters, worty their way through a series of comedy situations involving friends, neighbors and boyfriends. This production has been arranged to encourage the interest of the teenager in theater. Not only does the cast include a large number of young parts, but all the backstage chores are being handled by the younger group under adult guidance. Three performances are scheduled: Tuesday Aug. 29, Thursday Aug. 31, and Friday Sept. 1 at 8:45 p.m. Productions are at the club, where tickets may be purchased.

Parking is no longer a serious problem for those who drive to school. A large parking area has been provided just north of the school building. The school is also ideally located for students relying upon bus transportation. Counselors are on duty from 7 to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday to help students plan their educational programs.
