Caldwell-Meyer First Wed In New St. Stephen's Chapel
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Palmer Caldwell, 4725 Santa Maria St., announce the marriage of their daughter, Betsey Dawes Caldwell, to Don Philip Meyer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence William Meyer of 1142 Milan Ave. The wedding, attended by members of the family, was held in the new chapel at the Altar of the Holy Family in St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. The ceremony at 3 p.m. was performed by the rector, the Rev. Don H. Copeland, and was the first wedding to have taken place in the chapel, a memorial to the late John William Orr. The reception followed at the home of the bride's parents. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a white brocade suit with slim dress, short jacket buttons down the back, three quarter length sleeves banded in white fur. Her white feather pill box hat with circular veil, and corsage of white orchids, completed her ensemble. Miss Nancy Pope McLeod was the maid of honor. She wore a pistachio green dress designed with cap sleeves, trimmed with rows of matching lace. Her accessories were cream color, matching her halo hat with fluffy veiling. William L. McLeod was best man. The mother of the bride wore a white gown embroidered in yellow roses and green large white hat with white roses on brim, and a yellow rosebud corsage. Mother of the groom wore a blue ensemble and corsage of rosebuds. The couple met at Coral Gables High School, from which the bride graduated. She was a member of the Majorettes and of Modern Dance group. After a brief honeymoon at Miami Beach the couple will reside in Coral Gables. MRS. DON MEYER
PEOPLE
Mr. and Mrs. William F. Quesenberry Jr., 4102 Monserrate St., spent four days at Virginia Beach, where they enjoyed "heated" swimming pools and the Atlantic Ocean. * * * Dr. and Mrs. William Boss, 3810 Durango St., have made two motor trips to New Orleans this summer. The trips were made in the interest of Mrs. Boss known as Bonnie Betty, who is having cataract trouble. However, she tells us she is greatly encouraged. Seems her ophthalmologist, staff doctor at the Coast Guard Hospital there, has learned of a new cure, which makes waiting the answer. When the cataracts are "ripe" they will dissolve and fade away and the eyes will be as good as new. Dr. Boss, a retired Coast Guard officer and dentist by profession, and Mrs. Boss are from Pennsylvania. They've been Gableites many years. * * * Coral Gables may shout for the Coral Gables Junior Woman's Club, having won the Florida Federation 100% Score Award; the Civil Defense achievement award; Dade County Federation Scholarship award; and the Homestead USO award. And that's not all. The club's own Geri (Mrs. A. B.) Kirkland Jr., a past president, as chairman of the Florida Federation Fine Arts Department saw the Florida Junior Fine Arts Department win a General Federation award for the best coverage in all phases of the department. All this happened at the recent convention held at the Eden Roc Hotel.
