Pool-Patio Party Junior Woman's Club Inducts 22

By HELEN REYNOLDS Times Society Editor The Coral Gables Junior Woman's Club made its 22 new members welcome yesterday at a pool-patio party at the home of Mrs. James J. Bell, 6601 SW 128th St. Hawaiian was the theme and leis were presented each new member. The club, federated in 1929 under the sponsorship of the Coral Gables Woman's Club, holds its meeting at the club-house, 1001 East Ponce de Leon Blvd. Time was when new mem-s of either club HAD to ide in Coral Gables in or-der to belong. But not any more. "Now, new club material is carefully screened, before the young women are interviewed," said attractive brunet Joan (Mrs. Joseph C.) Pereno Jr., first vice president of the club and chairman of the new mem-ber committee. Joan personally called on ch prospective new member. "You break the barrier that way, for being a member of a federated woman's club isn't just a cup of tea, it's work, plus party time too," she said. Mr. and Mrs. Pereno have bought a home at 198 Sun-rise Ave., Coral Gables. They have three little girls, Chris-tine, eight; Janice, seven; and Ammette, five. "My husband and I decided to buy a house with a pool already installed, for our home, and teach our three girls to swim, rather than to have them go next door, may-be, and drown," she said. Another feather for this gal is the fact that her idea for the club's 1962 "Cabaret" was chosen over other entries. Norma (Mrs. R. M.) Swann, who handles publicity for her club, said of this annual com-petition: "Every member is invited to give her idea of the new show; she sends it unsigned, and her name mailed in a separate envelope." Fifteen were in the competi-tion this year, Norma said. The new members will help with the club's main project, its now famous dental clinic for indigent children, started 20 years ago. It now has its own building annex to the club-house. The new members are: Mrs. Dwain C. Andrews, 5901 SW 93rd Place; Mrs. Rudolph L. Baboun, 810 Angelo Ave., Cor-al Gables; Mrs. Sam A. Bel-cher, 411 Matheson Dr., Key Biscayne; Mrs. John J. Bert-zel, 9045 SW 112th Ave. Mrs. F. W. Burmaster, 6801 SW 19th Ter.; Mrs. Robert J.
