by helen reynolds society editor Carol Jean Graham, bride-elect of John Gifford Fryer Jr., has had a whirl of prenuptial August parties in her honor. It started with a coffee, Mrs. Thomas J. Stokes and Mrs. John H. Lipscomb gave at the Coconut Grove home of Mrs. Stokes, August 8. Carol was presented a beautiful gift corsage from her hostesses. Mrs. F. J. Hill and Mrs. Sidney C. Kass gave a lunch-eon-linen shower on the 16th at Mrs. Kass' attractive home 941 Algaringo Ave. There were 30 guests. Also on the guest list was Carol's grandmother, Mrs. Edward H. Neely; her grand aunt, Mrs. Martha D. Foster, both of Miami, and an aunt, Mrs. William M. liam M. Neely, visiting from Philadelphia. Last Saturday, Miss Patricia Gabriel honored the bride-elect with a luncheon and personal shower at the home of her parents, the Gene F. Gabriels, 756 Malaga Ave. Saturday of this week, Miss Barbara Noyer and her mother, Mrs. Henry Noyer, 830 Almeria Ave., will host a luncheon kitchen shower for Carol at Burdine's Tea Room. Carol, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Graham of 65 Morningside Dr., and her fiance will be married Saturday, Sept. 9, at the First Methodist Church of Coral Gables. * * * Dr. and Mrs. R. Sam Moseley, 640 San Lorenzo have good reasons to be proud of their two youngsters: Janet, their daughter, has been working at "Old Faithful" Inn, Yellowstone National Park during the summer. And what did she do? She waited tables in the dining room of the inn, evenings; and worked in its office typing menus by day. Janet, who was a member of the first debutante presentation at the Coral Gables Country Club, will be a senior this year at the University of Florida. She reports Sept. 21. As for her brother, Robert, he attained his BA in psychology at Emory University this year. As a reward, Dr. and Mrs. Moseley are taking both Robert and Janet on a week's jaunt to Nassau, although, Dr. Mosely says he's too busy to be gone a week. He will probably join his family for a day or two. * * * Bride-elect Diane Witters will be honored next Tuesday with a luncheon at the Coral Gables Country Club, and her grandmother, Mrs. Charles K. Weaver of 1448 Blue Rd. will be the hostess. Guests will include Diane's attendants and the groom's sister, Mrs. George Prichard of Augusta, Ga., who will assist at the rehearsal dinner to be given by the groom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Lankford at their home on SW 11th Terrace Aug. 31. Diane will also be honored at a luncheon today (Thursday) at the Coral Gables Country Club with Mrs. John Liebler, 1511 Cantoria Ave., the hostess. Guests will be the neighborhood friends, since the Witters are the "oldest" settlers on Cantoria and Alhambra 26 years. Tomorrow (Friday) a miscellaneous shower is on the bride's guest book, with Mrs. Harry V. Wylie, of Banos Court, and Mrs. G. V. Dohlin, the hostesses at Mrs. Dohlin's home, 3940 SW 4th St. Anne Wylie who has been a camp counsellor this summer, will keep the bride's book at the wedding, Sept. 2.

Miller, Lee, And Logsdon Best Three

Mrs. Georgia Miller, Mrs. Krit Logsdon and Mrs. Leland Lee won the best ball three-some tournament of the Coral Gables Country Club Women's Golf Association Friday. They had a net 30. Four temas tied for second place with 33's. These were Mrs. Richard Marshall, Mrs. Belle Mathers, Mrs. Dave Bosworth; Mrs. Fred Young, Mrs. Frank Kriwanek, Mrs. Rollo Budde; Mrs. Tony McCrackin, Mrs. Henry Krystow, Mrs. Peter Basalyga; and Mrs. Ed Fleming, Mrs. Joe E. Fretwell and Mrs. Robert Horne.

Lt. Col. William F. Keifer, 1125 Aduana Ave., Pfc. John A. Ehler, 515 Valencia Ave., and Private Jules B. Kaplan are now undergoing two weeks' training at the U.S. Army Engineer Center, Fort Belvoir, Va. * * * Marine Pfc. David C. Sinclair, son of Mr. and Mrs. Don M. Sinclair of 911 Capri St., recently completed the aviation familiarization course at the Naval Air Technical Training Center, Memphis, Tenn. Before enlisting in February he attended the University of Miami. * * * Robert S. Mosley, 640 San Lorenzo, received his BS degree at Emory University's Summer Commencement last Thursday. * * * The long hours of commuting are over for Lee Smith, manager of the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce. Lee says he is living again after months of traveling back and forth, first between Delray Beach and the Gables, and later from Golden Beach, where he had a temporary home while he sought to dispose of his Delray home. The new Smith hacienda will be at 7441 SW 131st St. * * * Cadet Eugene F. McCormick, Jr. is going to sea. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene F. McCormick of 8160 SW 63rd Ct., he completed his Fourth Class (freshman) year at the United States Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point Long Island, N.Y.
