Bunny Hendrick, bride-elect of Louis R. Martens, has been honored at several showers. One of the most original ones is yet to come. It is the "grocery shower, after the wedding." Hostesses will be Mrs. L. K. Chandler, and Mrs. Benedict Aiken. Next Wednesday, Mrs. J. R. Brunby and Mrs. E. S. Rentz will be the hostesses and the shower is kitchen and bathroom accessories. On Jan. 31, Mrs. Ben W. Turner, 2310 Granada Blvd., will be hostess for a luncheon honoring Bunny at the Coral Reef Yacht Club. Bunny's mother, Mrs. Millie Hendrick, will be hostess at the rehearsal dinner at her home, 3903 Granada Blvd. The wedding date is Feb. 3rd. Other hostesses honoring Bunny at December pre-nuptial parties were Mrs. Jack Kane, and daughter Karen, of Winter Park, aunt and cousin of Bunny's . . . Mrs. Coman Munroe, 1421 Urbina Ave., who gave a linen shower for 30 guests including the mother of the bride-to-be. Also in December, Mrs. H. E. Penney and Mrs. Clayton Bullock gave Bunny a lingerie shower. One of her unusual showers was the one given by her sorority, Delta Delta Delta active chapter at the UM. It was a crystal and silver shower with Mrs. Paul Dorsmann, who will be matron of honor in the wedding, and Mrs. Noel Baker arranging the affair. Bunny is the daughter of Mrs. David Hendrick, 3903 Granda Blvd. * * * Mrs. Terrell Shrader, now of California, writes her Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority alums that she has a "built-in baby sitters" to take care of their newest arrival, baby girl Michelle Lynn, born May 27. The baby sitters are daughters Terry, 17, and Jan, 15. Mrs. Shrader, the former Janet Seerth, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Seerth of 1510 Mendavia Ave. * * * Coral Gables was represented both socially and "horsy" at the opening yesterday (Wednesday) of the Hialeah Race Course, ringing the starting bell for the next 40 days. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hooper 3211 Alhambra Cir., had four of their Coral Gables neighbors for luncheon in the Clubhouse, then to their trackside box to watch their speedster, "Winonly" go to the post in the Royal Poinciana inaugural day classic. They were Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Latimer, of University Dr., and Mr. and Mrs. Morton Bright, 3511 Alhambra Cir. Hialeah secretary Everett A. Clay and "Petey" his wife had guests from Miami for the luncheon at the gourmet buffet. Other Gables hosts were Mr. and Mrs. Kermit W. Miss Weiss Will Marry John Hall
Mr. and Mrs. Paul H. Weiss of Bridgeville, Pa., have announced the engagement of their daughter, Sarah to John Denton Hall, son of Mrs. John D. Hall, of 6018 San Vincente St., and the late Mr. Hall. A June wedding is planned. The bride-elect is a graduate of Chatham College, Pittsburgh, Pa. She is presently a secretary in the main offices of the United States Steel Corporation in Pittsburgh. Her fiance is a graduate of Carnegie Institute of Technology, Pittsburgh, where he was a member of Delta Upsilon fraternity. He is with the U.S. Steel Research at Monroeville, Pa.; MISS WEISS
Book Review
The Altar Rosary Society of Epiphany Catholic Church will have a book review at 8 p.m. Jan. 30 in the cafetorium. Mrs. Frank Kerdyk, will review, "Edge of Sadness" by Edwin O'Connor. Mrs. Emily Fleming, 1200 Manati Ave., and Mrs. M. E. Dinsmore, 8121 S.W. 63rd Ave., are taking reservations.
APPOINTED ARCHITECTS
William H. Merriam, 1022 Malaga Ave., has been appointed associate architect on the Coral Gables Board of Architects until June 30, 1962.

George F. Hunter, son of Mr. and Mrs. George G. Hunter, 316 Candia Ave., has been elected president of the middle-class students of the Candler School of Theology, Emory University. A first year student, Hunter will serve as president for one year. * * * Coral Gables Woman's Club members who have a heart and a hand for making stuffed animals and dolls for its Toy Clinic will begin regular hours at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the clubhouse. At their sale of remnants, they added $30 to the "kitty." They also are proud of a grateful thank-you letter from the Dade County Hospital for the 40 stuffed animals they delivered to its Pediatric Ward. And this we quote from the "Coral Vine" "A youthful figure is something you get when you ask any woman her age." The Coral Vine is the monthly news sheet of the CGWC. * * * The All-Star luncheon of the Opera Guild of Greater Miami will be held Jan. 25 at the Surf Club. Stars appearing here in "Traviata," the first opera to be held this season, will make their appearances and Jerome Twitchell's orchestra will play. Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Cotton of 5810 SW Red Rd., are members of the arrangements committee. * * * Tim Garvey, son of Mrs. John J. Garvey, 307 Candia Ave., has been elected recorder of Sigma Nu fraternity, Florida State University. * * * Margot de Blanck, daughter of Cuban pianist-composer Herbert de Blanck, will be guest pianist Sunday at the 4 p.m. musical and tea at the Musicians Club of America. Miss de Blanck has played with the Philharmonie Symphony under Rodzinsky in Havana. She will play the "Clare de Lune" by Debussy in her program of four numbers. * * * Coral Gables resident members of the African Violet Society of Miami elected to office in the society for the year are Mrs. Cecelia Pippinger, 231 Alesio Ave., corresponding secretary and Mrs. Rose Ebenfuhrer, 134 Madeira Ave., historian.
