His $8,000 Theft Is Worth 5 Prison Years

A man was sentenced to five years in state prison this week for the $8,000 burglary of a Coral Gables home. Raymond Bridges, 23, was found guilty by a jury of taking $7,183 in furs and more in jewelry in the April 12 burglary and ransacking of the home of Fred Hooper, 3211 Alhambra Cir. Bridges was apprehended, according to Coral Gables police, when Miami detectives and the FBI observed him dropping off the stolen articles at the home of Frankie Negron, of 3030 SW 79th St. April 19. When they raided the Negron home they found approximately $4,000 worth of mink furs in a garbage can.

Map Squabble Ends In City's Victory

A tourist map maker's suit took a wrong turn for him Friday in Federal District Court when Judge David Dyer failed to see that he had a unique set of routes. Judge Dyer dismissed the suit of L. W. Larson, who sued the City of Coral Gables, the Chamber of Commerce, Parker Printing, 303 Alcazar Ave., and John Giffen, another tour map publisher. Oral arguemtns for the defendants were made by attorney Owen Freed. Pruitt and Pruitt represented Larson. The suit, filed Aug. 8, contended that the City and the Chamber used a Larson map on which to base its own Guided Tour map. The dismissal resulted when Larson was unable to show that his map was original. Larson has 30 days to amend his suit if he wants to go back into court.
