He Raced Home And Judge Found It Unwelcome
University student Robert Craig Wade was found guilty of reckless driving, using more than one lane, passing on the wrong side and driving 65 mph in a 40 mile zone — by Judge Edward J. Nelson in Metro Traffic Court this week. Wade said he was racing back to school in order to return a friend's car so the friend wouldn't be late for his traffic school class. Judge Nelson, peering over the desk, asked, "Don't you think that's where you should be?"
Our Boys Start Drive For New Customers
The carrier salesmen of The Coral Gables Times had a special event in their honor at the Coral Gables Youth Center Saturday night. It was a kickoff to a subscription contest, ending May 1. The festivities began the moment the boys entered the door. Louis LaNeve, Bruce Moskowitz and Duke Depew won door prizes. Following a buffet dinner of hot dogs, French fried potatoes, ice cream and soft drinks, the evening moved to the entertainment events. Six skits depicting carrier boys in adventures while trying to sell subscriptions featured Ricky Schafer, Lee Howard, Bill Eubanks, Stuart Cohen, Bruce Alexander and Louis LaNeve. Mr. Magic entertained the folks with his magical art. Members of the junior and senior groups of the Jack Stanley School of Dance Arts performed several numbers. The dancers were Mike Lally, Mickey Thorne, Mary Jane Swackhamer, Susan Wolfson, Stan Mazin, Kathy Aidan, Mark Stein, Bill Allen, Ellen Parris, Maxine Edwards, Ron Daniels, Wendy Lotteran, Leilani Smith, Steffi Fox, Muffet Elmore. A cruise to and from Nassau is awaiting the winner and his mother. The boy who gets the most subscriptions over 50 by May 1 will be the winner. They will travel aboard the SS Bahama Star and spend two nights at sea.
