Car Wreck Is Caused By Cigaret

Putting out a cigaret while driving led to an accident on Old Cutler Road early Friday morning which landed two persons at South Miami Hospital. According to Officer Harvey A. Davis, the couple, Murray and Elizabeth Mittleman of 18911 SW 84th Ave. were eastbound on Old Cutler Road at 2:30 a.m. when Mrs. Mittleman 42, attempted to put out a cigaret. In doing so, she went off the side of the road and Mittleman, 49, grabbed the wheel. The car went out of control struck a sign and crashed into a tree doing $500 damage to the car and injuring the couple.

Stadium Has New Board

Serving with Bryon M. Nelson, newly elected president of the Coral Gables Stadium, on the board of directors are several men from the area. They are Lee Smith, secretary treasurer and manager of the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce; Arthur Peavey Jr., Dade County Parks Department; John M. Montgomery, member of the board of the newly chartered University National Bank of Coral Gables. Warren Blackmon of WVCG; Dr. Phillip J. Chastain; Ralph Estes; Frank Kerdyk, realtor; C. T. McCreedy; Robert L. Searle; Larry Larrimore, realtor; Ernie Siler; and Jim Barney, executive director of the Stadium.

Like Sack Races?

Boys and girls ages 6-18 are invited to participate in "Field Day," a special event to be held Saturday at the Coral Gables Youth Center. The event, starting at 2 p.m., will include races such as the three-legged and potato and sack races. There will also be relays. Those interested can register at the office before 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Two courses in yoga are being conducted on Mondays. Hatha Yoga for beginners is at 7 to 8 p.m., and Raja Yoga for advanced students is at 8 to 9 p.m. Fee for the course of eight lessons is $9. A photography class, which will run for eight weeks, began Tuesday. The instructor, James Wellington, will cover theory and practice, darkroom, optical theory, photo chemistry and a field trip. The fee is $9 for the course on Tuesdays, 7-9 p.m. There are still openings for the sewing class on Wednesdays from 12:30-3:30 p.m. Beginners are welcome. The fee is $2. A class in dog training began this week. Boys and girls who are members join up, to teach their dog's good manners. The class runs on Mondays from 5-5:30 p.m. The fee is $2 for six lessons.
