New Parking Garage Work Is Flowing Extra Smoothly
Coral Gables' half-milloindollar parking garage behind the Miracle Theatre is rolling along so smoothly the first car could possibly drive in a week ahead of schedule. General Superintendent Eugene Holman said the first floor should be ready Dec. 15, the contract deadline. But Holman, who carefully avoided promising too much, said work has gone so well the first floor might be ready as early as Dec. 7 or 10. The first floor will provide parking space for 100 cars. Holman said the remaining two floors, which will accommodate a total of 200 more cars, should be ready Jan. 15. Final completion date will be Feb. 15. "Everyone concerned, the architects, engineers, sub-contractors of our own, sub-contractors for the City, notably Florida Power and Light, have been extremely coopertaive," Holman said. Holman said the building of the garage has posed no particular problems. A Florida Industrial Commission investigator, on his regular checkup, praised Holman and his work crew of 50. "When I walk over a job," the investigator said, "I can tell by instinct if there's organization." The investigator said that after studying the work site of Caudle Construction Co., who's putting up the garage, he's seen a commendable job of organization.
