News Of The PTA / Entertainment, Demonstrations On Agendas
By EUNICE TALL MO 1-2294 The Emerson Elementary School annual musical program, this year entitled, "Heavenly Days," will be presented March 10 and 11 in the school cafetorium, 8001 SW 36 St. at 7:30 p.m. "Heavenly Days," a calendar of music, song and dance, has a cast of interested PTA members and children of the school. At curtain time the entire cast will sing "Heavenly Days." January will be represented by the introduction of the Bowl Queens. The scene will be a ball game. Song will be "You've Got To Be A Football Hero." February — Heart Month, songs: "Heart of My Heart" and "You've Got To Have Heart." March—Saint Patrick's Day, song: "MacNamara's Band." April—The children of the school present "You've Got To Have Rain". Men dance to "April Showers." May—A dance to tune of "Roses": choreography by Mary Lou Northrup and Sylvia Sugarman. June—"The Wedding of the Painted Doll." July—Patriotic Month, song: "You're a Grand Old Flag" and "Yankee Doodle Dandy". August—Community sing, songs representing August. September—The children in "School Days" and "High Hopes" October—Halloween, song: "Dry Bones". November—Tourist season, song: "Meet Me Down in Florida." December—Sleigh ride to "Snow, Snow". Finale—a parody on "Smiling Through The Year." Tickets are 50 cents, adults; 25 cents, children. During intermission refreshments will be sold. The musical is being produced by Til and Richard Wuerter; directed by Til Harter; stage managed by Ralph Paste and accompanied by Mrs. Marion Chipka. The PTA of Emerson Elementary School wishes to express appreciation to Til and Richard Harter who have done so much for this production. Pinecrest Elementary The next PTA meeting of Pinecrest Elementary School is Wednesday at 8 p.m. in the school cafetorium. A nominating committee to make up a slate for 1961-62 PTA officers will be elected. Mr. Joseph Kniseley's sixth grade class will present an operetta entitled "The Love Pirates of Hawaii." Refreshments will be served. Banyan Elementary The Banyan Elementary School PTA meeting will be Tuesday evening at 8 in the school cafetorium. During the meeting a demonstration of teaching techniques will be enacted for the audience. The membership will select a nominating committee and vote on the adoption to the amendments of the by-laws. Refreshments will be served. South Miami Elementary An important meeting will be held by the South Miami Elementary School PTA Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in the school cafetorium. At this meeting all past presidents will be present in observance of Founder's Day, the celebration of the founding of the PTA. Mrs. Jean Groves, past president, will report on how PTA funds were dispersed for the benefit of the students and school since the shool opened in 1952. Mrs. Charles H. DeCamp, area co-ordinator for area 12, will enlighten the membership about the legislation dealing with the public schools. Coral Way Elementary A luncheon for all Coral Way Elementary School room mothers and school nurse, Mrs. Virginia Peoples, was given by the PTA board yesterday at the home of Mrs. Peter Garvett, PTA board member. * * * A physical education demonstration will be presented next Thursday at 7:30 p.m. on the school grounds. All grades in the school will participate in the demonstration. The PTA will sell refreshments at this activity. Temple Judea PTA The PTA of Temple Judea's religious school invites the public to their annual Purim Carnival, March 5. A delightful afternoon and evening has been planned for the entire family. The fun and frolic will begin at 3 p.m. There will be games for the youngsters and various booths for those who love to shop. Promptly at 5:30 p.m. a spaghetti dinner will be served until 7:30 p.m. The highlight of the carnival will be the youngsters in a talent show. The carnival will be held on the Temple Judea grounds.
Patriot Group Will Meet At Noon Today
Members of the Gov. John West Chapter, Daughters of the American Colonists, will have as their luncheon speaker Thomas Anderson when the chapter meets at noon today at the Miami Woman's Club. Following the luncheon new officers will be elected and delegates and alternates to the 40th general assembly to be held in Washington, D. C., April 11 and 12, will be named. Planning to attend the seventh state assembly of the DAC to be held Wednesday and Thursday at Daytona each are: Mrs. J. P. Simmons, Mrs. Ernest Bailey, Mrs. John H. Middleton, Mrs. Joseph L. Middleton, Mrs. Leonard B. Green, Mrs. Robert O. Angle, Mrs. Cecil Bergin, Mrs. Frank D. Rentz, Mrs. Roland Hooker, Mrs. Arthur Ford, Mrs. A. L. Calhoun, Mrs. Marion Owens and Mrs. Clyde Williams Isher.
