Driver Dozes, Car Weaves Crazy Path

A man who fell asleep at the wheel of his vehicle Sunday morning took a crazy ride before his compact car finally came to rest not too far from where he dozed off. Fred E. Bedore, 41, of 6750 SW Eighth St., was westbound on Tamiami Trail shortly before 6:30 a.m., according to Coral Gables Officer George Miller, when he dozed. His car jumped the curb near the intersection of the Trail and Ponce de Leon Blvd., cut through the vacant northeast corner lot, crossed Ponce, went into the vacant lot on the northwest corner, made a loop under the large billboard there, cut back across Ponce and wound up in the first lot. Bedore suffered a bloody nose and $350 damage to his car. He was charged with careless driving.

Angling Trio Win Citations

A trio of anglers — two from Coral Gables and one from Coconut Grove — were awarded bonefish pocket pieces and handlettered citations by the Bahamas Winter Fishing Tournament for their heaviest fish. Leading the three men was Oliver Hopkins, 4100 Kiaora St., Coconut Grove, with a 7-pound 6-ounce bonefish caught on spinning tackle and 8-pound test line. The largest that O. C. Wheeler, 4203 San Amaro Dr., and T. K. Jamieson, 1050 Alfonso Ave., Coral Gables, landed weighed 5 pounds, 12 ounces and 5 3/4 pounds, respectively. Hopkins and Wheeler fished with guide Wilton Sawyer while Jamieson was guided by Will Humes. The men were guests at the House Boat "Abaco Angler" anchored off Sands Bank Cay, Abaco.

Blowout Gets Accident Blame

A blow out on South Dixie Hwy. shortly before 4 a.m. Sunday left University of Miami student Robert Lee Faust, 20, of 5800 San Amaro, nursing a few bruises, an estimated $850 bill for damages to his car and a charge of careless driving. Coral Gables Officer R. J. Smith, who investigated the early morning crash, said that Faust was heading southwest on South Dixie when the blow out occurred. Faust lost control of his car and struck a no parking sign and utility pole after going over the curb.

"With proper care and equipment your lawn can be smooth, well-cut and clean with the beauty of a golf course and the ruggedness of a football field." Yes, now is the time to groom your yard for the nice days ahead when family and friends gather for cookouts, parties, games, and good times. Step By Step "By doing the following, you will have a finer lawn" Hill declared. (1) Examine your grass carefully. If you find that your lawn is infested with insects use Kwit. This miracle product controls ants, including fire ants, army worms, cutworms, mole crickets, leaf hoppers, billbugs, earwigs, sowbugs ... and the worst pest of them all—chinch bugs. (2) Water deeply if grass shows signs of wilting. Water as often as needed to sustain vigorous growth. Aerate if ground is compacted and water runs off. (3) Mow often with a crisp, scissor-cut reel mower or a versatile rotary. Allow the grass to grow 1/2" longer in hot summer sun. Mr. Jay E. Leshaw, president of the Art Construction Company, announced today that his company is prepared to add second story sections to present day Florida homes. "Unlike most additions, an improvement of this type will increase the value of your property above the cost of the addition," Mr. Leshaw declared. TRAVEL REPORTER By Bill Mason

Question: I still can't believe going to a travel agency doesn't cost extra, or that the prices for fares and accommodations are the same! Answer: Our biggest problem is explaining this to the public. We are paid by the travel industry itself. This is to assure you the convenience of a local, well qualified "branch office."
