False alarms plague firemen; most due to faulty systems
During a week filled with more reascue and fire calls than usual, the Coral Gables Fire Department was pestered with four false alarms of building fires. A building fire alert is treated seriously. Two engines, an officers' car, a rescue truck and a ladder truck are sent immediately to every house or commercial building alarm. Only one of this week's false alarms seemed to be maliciously set, according to fire reports. The others were mistakes of malfunctions in alarm units.
