Senior Week filled with activities Killian High

It's Senior Week at Killian and seniors are preparing for graduation and the future while juniors and sophomores get ready for next year. Senior Week officially started Friday evening, May 21, when Killian students took part in "Grad Nite" at Disney World. The Magic Kingdom was at their disposal all evening. All tickets to "Senior Prom '76" have been sold and the Grand Ballroom at the Sheraton Four Ambassadors waits for the Saturday night gala affair. Entertainment will be provided by Wanda Davis and the bands "Fire" and "Heroes of Cranberry Farm." Wanda will sing the theme song of the prom, "Mahogany," and the theme songs from the past two years: "The Way We Were" and "We May Never Pass This Way Again." In last week's Awards Assembly to honor outstanding Killian students, Liz Nord came away with the "Cougar" award for contributing many hours of work to the school and community. Skip Bardfeld won the Outstanding Senior Boy while Pam Frank won the Senior Girl honor. Also worth noting, Israel Gordon, a senior, will graduate this June with a perfect attendance record in 12 years of school. This is also a big week for the Journalism Department. The 1976 Catamount yearbook has arrived and is on sale for $16. The book carries an anniversary theme. While the country is 200 years old, Killian celebrated its tenth birthday this year. Susie Asbury will replace Vivian Alvarez as Editor of the yearbook next year. The last edition of "Cougar's Roar '76" comes out on Friday. The closing issue includes a look at the School Budget, recollections of a Silver Knight nominee, as well as a look at the school's own hockey player. Robert McClure and Robyn Riley have been named to succeed Sandy Goldfarb and Bill Kaczaraba as Editors-in-Chief next year. Three Killian students have become regulars on WPLG-TV's "Next Generation" program. This Channel 10 production is a student press conference interviewing prominent members of the community. Appearing weekly on the show is Cougar's Roar Editor Bill Kaczaraba, Editorial Editor Robert McClure, and Staff Writer Warren Lawler. In sports, Killian will send six atheletes to Washington D.C., this summer to compete in the National Championships of the Marine Physical Fitness League. The Cougars won the honor be defeating the top three schools in Dade County. Killian's "Super Six" include Eric-Foeg, John Gonzales, Tom Heinztmann, Terry Holder, John Smith, and Greg Truha.
