Mutiny meeting

religion Temple Judea bat mitvah's eight women
At temple Judea in Coral Gables, 5500 Granada Blvd., the second annual Adult Bat Mitzvah Ceremony will take place Friday, May 28, at 8:15 p.m. Eight women, housewives and working wives, will undergo the rites of Bat Mitzvah, which usually takes place at age 13. They are Robin Gabe, Barbara Kasper, Myra Locke, Gail Meyers, Ernestine Richman, Darla Schwartz, Linda Taylor, and Carole Waldman. These women have devoted many hours to the study of Torah, the Hebrew language, and learning to chant the appropriate blessings under the direction of Temple Judea's Educational Director, Mrs. Ray Berman.
Temple Beth Tov
Temple Beth Tov, 6438 SW 8th St., will hold a service Friday, May 28, at 8:15 p.m., with Rabbi Charles Rubel officiating. Michael Rand, son of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Rand, will be confirmed. He will conduct the major portion of the Sabbath service. The congregation is sponsoring the Oneg Shabbat in honor of Confirmant Michael Rand. This service will conclude the late Friday evening services. During the summer, services will be held every day at 8 a.m. and 7 p.m.
Installation
Officers and board members of the Beth David Sisterhood were installed Wednesday, May 26, at Beth David Congregation, 2625 SW 3rd Ave. Rabbi Sol Landau presided over the induction. Officers installed were: Phyllis Learner, president; Shelley Bergman, cultural vice-president; Marilyn Simon, membership vice-president; Gail Tescher, ways and means vice-president; Bonna Hellman, youth vice-president; Ilene Hyams, recording secretary; Faye Abramowitz, corresponding secretary; Judy Portnoy, treasurer; Fritzie Scherff, associate treasurer; Weslee Kressel, membership secretary; Diana Bailey, parliamentarian; Elayne Tenderich, advisor. New board members are Priscilla Adler, Lucille Alterman, Millie Braverman, Marjean Buckner, Bibi Fishman, Pi Marko, Iris Medvin, Margaret Oikes, Marion Shulevitz, May Sotta, Linda Spiegelman, Addie Tytell. Delegates to the congregation board are Shelley Bergman and Gail Tescher.
Israeli controversy
Rabbi Norman N. Shapiro will speak on "This Land is Ours — By Whose Right?" Friday, May 28, at Temple Zion, 8000 Miller Rd., at 8:15 p.m. The Rabbi will respond to criticism of the actions of Gush Emunim, a sizeable number of Israelis who have recently established settlements on the west bank of the Jordan River.
Citizenship seminar
Shirley Spellerberg, a political conservative, will be holding a Christian Citizenship Seminar at Southwest Community Church, 8951 SW 44th St., Saturday, May 29, from 1-3 p.m.
