Start day with a healthy breakfast
Here's a tip for young brides that mothers sometimes forget to mention. Breakfast is the most crucial meal of the day. Sure, a good dinner is important. But to insure that both of you get off on the right foot, sit down together for a pleasant breakfast. There's a good nutritional reason for starting the day with a healthy breakfast. After some hours with no food, the body needs to be restored. Young marrieds lead busy lives and that takes lots of energy. Nutritionists say to keep fit, 1/3 to 1/4 of the total calories we consume daily should be eaten at breakfast. These days, even if time is short, it's a cinch to put together a good tasting, nourishing morning meal. Remember when your mother got up early to make oatmeal for the family? Today, a wholesome bowl of oatmeal can be made in seconds. And with no pot to clean either. Instant oatmeal — in five appealing flavors — can be mixed up right in the cereal bowl, just add boiling water and stir. Of course, for those leisurely weekend breakfasts there's still old fashioned oats that cook in five minutes, or quick oats ready to serve in just one minute. Breakfast together has many benefits. The morning, when both of you are rested are relaxed, is the best time to exchange news and views. And breakfast nourishes the spirit too. It makes a bright beginning for the busy day ahead.
