Next time you have a chore to do around the house, think of A. W. Dorgan. A retired landscape architect who lives at 745 Blue Rd., he recently painted his entire house by himself. What's so unusual? Dorgan is in his 70's. * * * Mrs. Jean (Thelma D.) Yoder, is back at her desk following a seven-weeks' absence after a bout with her ticker. Mrs. Yoder has the job of deciphering patrolmen's reports, translating them into English and typing them up neatly for the permanent Coral Gables police files. * * * Labor Day weekend at Riviera Country Club will be full of sports. Beginning Friday, it will have a fish fry from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the patio and a last-splash water show at 8 o'clock. Saturday there will be an informal dance called the "Sport Shirt" with orchestra. Sunday has swim races in the afternoon and tennis exhibition matches at 3:30 p.m. A buffet is from 5:30 to 8 p.m. and a movie at 7 p.m., "Bellboy." On Monday, Labor day, there is a tennis tournament for the teenagers in morning, and a family picnic from 11 a.m. "til." Four members of the Coral Gables Country Club Women's Golf Association, tied for low putts with 13 as members and guests played between showers on the course. Winners were Mrs. Stanley Burke, Mrs. Paul Sage, Mrs. Dave Bosworth and Mrs. Eugene Kaspar. In second place were Mrs. Daniel Turullo, Mrs. R. G. Schmid, and Mrs. Robert Marshall. Mrs. Ann Roll won the guest low putt prize with 14 and Mrs. Ralph Helms was second with 15. * * * Pi Beta Phi alumnae in the Greater Miami area attended a covered dish supper last night (Wednesday) at the home of Mrs. Frederick P. Poppe of Snapper Creek Lakes. The occasion? Honoring the mothers of the 27 Pi Phi members who will soon return to their respective colleges. Assisting Mrs. Poppe were Mrs. C. Jackson Baldwin, Mrs. Joseph H. Akerman, Mrs. Jack Q. Cleveland, Mrs. Herbert H. Dunker, Mrs. James H. Heck, all of Coral Gables, and Mrs. Edward R. Annis of Bay Point.
