FIFTH GRADERS CELEBRATE AT POOL PARTY

Mrs. McConahy's 5th Grade Mom & Dad Never Had a Chance

For 33 fifth graders at Coral Gables Elementary School, success last week was spelled PTA. The fifth graders of teacher Mrs. Bernice McConahy were treated to a swim party because they had—within a day and a half—signed up all the class mothers and fathers in the Parent-Teachers Association. Piper Playhouse To Open Season With King Midas

The Pied Piper Playhouse opens its 16th season on Oct. 27 with the production of "King Midas and the Golden Touch." The play will be held at Actor's Studio "M" Playhouse, 208 Bird Road. Eric Dunlop, a new Coral Gables resident from South Africa, will play King Midas.

A new storm drain sump costing $1,222 has been approved by the City Commission for an alley lying between Yumuri and Madruga Streets in Block 198, Riviera Section Part 14.

No Again On Liquor

Another attempt to transfer a liquor store from Ponce de Leon Boulevard to the Negro section of Coral Gables was voted down by the City Commission Tuesday. The vote was 4-0, with Commissioner George Wilson absent, to deny Gables Liquor Inc. a change of address from 2626 Ponce de Leon Blvd. to 105 South Dixie Hwy., an apartment house with stores on the first floor.
