by helen reynolds society editor Linda Peterson, who received her wings from National Airlines, May 11, took her first flight as stewardess May 15. It was a long one, to California. However, Linda has lived with her family long enough to know all about making deadlines for the air. Her daddy, Alvin E. Petersen, known as Pete, has just retired from Pan American Airways after 32 years in the P.A.A. service. Linda after completing her education in the Coral Gables and South Miami Schools, graduated from the Walsh School of Business Science. The Pete Petersen's reside at 8142 SW 132nd St. * * * Meg Hennon, one of Coral Gables' licensed "ham" radio operators, writes from their summer home in Hiawassee, Ga., that she celebrated her birthday high in the air. It all happened when Meg and Gordon, her husband were invited to celebrate the day by their son, Jack who flew up in his Bonanza plane and took his parents from their Georgia home to Orlando, for a Ham-fest over the weekend. Meg says it took three hours and ten minutes to go down at about 7,500 feet and the same number of hours to come back. It was rough. They had to climb to 11,600 feet above the clouds to get out of the bumps but what a thrill it was. She says it is beautiful in Georgia now, and the dogwood trees are in full bloom, and the fish are biting, Gordon bringing in some beauties. Meg is busy planting her garden, so hasn't fished as yet, but has plans. The lake is too alluring with fish to hunt the precious stones in the mountains. As long as the fish are biting, who cares to hunt rocks? * * * Mrs. William L. Huntley, "Katheen" as she is known to all her friends, says of their 24-room, two-story house on North Greenway Drive, their home for many years, that the view from the upstairs porch across the greens of the Granada golf course is heavenly. She also says why go away? Not far away reside the Huntley's son, W. L. Huntley's Jr., and family of four children at 3315 Durango St. Kathleen says they have plans to build a large, two-story colonial home in the University Drive area which will have five bedrooms, each with its own bath. Reason?-The junior Huntley's are expecting again, and they are planning for plenty of room for their kids to play.
