Wedding Trip To Europe Follows Rites Which United Coral Gables Couple

Off to Europe on their wedding trip are Mr. and Mrs. John Rees Harlow following their late afternoon wedding Saturday at the Coral Gables First Methodist Church. The bride, the former Amanda Sue Higgins, is the daughter of Mrs. Harry C. Higgins, of 908 Andres Ave., and the late Mr. Higgins. The groom is the son of the Rev. and Mrs. Frank E. Harlow of 931 Obispo Ave. Bride's Gown Given in marriage by her brother, Harry C. Higgins Jr. of Lake Worth, the bride wore a floor length gown of white Chantilly lace and peau de soie. The fitted bodice had a portrait neckline, point-on-hand sleeves of the lace etched in pearls and sequins. The full skirt fell into a chapel length train. Her many-tiered silk illusion veil fell from a crown of pearls and sequins. She carried a cascade of white Cattleya orchids entwined with pearls. Mrs. Harry C. Higgins Jr., sister-in-law of the bride, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Edward D. Marsden of Pittsburgh and Mrs. Joseph Nesbitt and Mrs. Bruce Vinning, both of Coral Gables. They wore identical gowns of antique gold delustered satin featuring a French overdrape and Sabrina neckline. They wore matching headpieces and carried crescents of gold Vanda orchids and grapes. Best Man Edward D. Marsden, brother-in-law of the groom, was best man. Ushers were John McNutt, Felix Baker, John Chowning, Dan Killian, Scott Arnold and Dr. Frank Cox, cousin of the bride of Pompano Beach. Impressive was the single ring ceremony with Dr. Lewis N. Head pastor assisted by the bridegroom's father, the Rev. Frank Harlow, officiating at the 4:30 p.m. candlelight service. The reception followed in the church lounge. For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Higgins wore a delft blue chiffon gown with draped chiffon bodice and graceful flowing panels of the chiffon falling to the skirt hem in back. Her hat was matching in color and she wore gold Vanda orchids. Green Satin Mother of the groom wore a cream Chantilly lace over green satin with matching hat and accessories and green Vanda orchid corsage. Among out-of-town guests were the bridegroom's sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Marsden of Pittsburgh; Mr. and Mrs. Herman Cox, maternal aunt and uncle of the bride of Pompano Beach; Dr. and Mrs. Lee Toothman of West Palm Beach; Mrs. Thomas Rinard and Miss Dorothy Jordan of Jacksonville, former classmates of the bride at the University of Florida. The bride was graduated from Stephens' Junior College for Women, Columbia, Mo., and the University of Florida. She is a member of the Spinster's Club. The bridegroom is a graduate of the University of Miami, Texas Christian University, Ft. Worth Texas and did graduate work at Yale University. He is a member of the Kings Bay Yacht and Country Club and a member of the Bachelor's Club of Miami. The couple will make their home at 24 Minorca Ave., upon their return from abroad.

PTA Unit Will Sponsor Studio M Theater Party

"Blue Denim", the smash hit Broadway show being produced at Studio M, is the next program being offered by the PTA of the Southwest YMHA'S Early Childhood Development Program. This hit play is by the promising young playwright, Leo Herlihy. The Theatre Party is planned for Sunday evening, Nov. 27. Tickets will cost $1.50 each, with all proceeds going to the benefit of the Nursery School program. For reservations, call Halpern at CA 1-8662. Tickets will be available only until Nov. 6.
