Mrs. William L. Wallace, 910 Algaringo Ave., invited friends in for a coffee Saturday morning honoring her sister, Rhea (Mrs. Frank J.) Hertel of Scarsdale, N. Y. Mrs. Hertel, who has been named consultant on program for the Junior Leagues of America (with offices in New York City), had been in Fort Lauderdale on League work and paid her sister and family a brief visit. Wini and Wilma, the Wallace's young daughters, assisted at the coffee. Friday night, Mrs. Hertel accompanied the Wallaces to the University of Miami-Boston football game, traveling the Country Club of Coral Gables chartered bus as the Wallaces always go. Mrs. Hertel left by jet flight early Saturday afternoon. In her new job, Mrs. Hertel will serve as advisor to member Leagues on matters of administration and general finance. She will work extensively in the field, making League visits, conducting workshops and attending League and association meetings. A resident of Scarsdale since 1944, Mrs. Hertel has been active in community groups. A past president of the Scarsdale Woman's Club, she has been active in the Scarsdale school system and the League of Women Voters. * * * A coffee honoring new members of the Theatre Arts League will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the home of Mrs. Wallace Nimer, 545 San Servando Ave. Mrs. Walter Pierce is League president and Mrs. Nimer is a member of the scholastic committee of the League. * * * Mrs. James Lowry, 1033 Sorolla Ave., will be the hostess Friday for the first home meeting of the Miami Branch, League of American Pen Women's fall season. The program, an organ recital, will have Mrs. Kathryn Crowder, a new member, at the organ key board. The program will include "Triple Fugue" by Bach and "Choral" by Franck. Miss Evelyn Shearston, a soloist at the First Church of Christ, Scientist, will be soloist, presenting a program of classical and sacred songs. Mrs. Lloyd Rees, 1418 Cecilia Ave., is new president of the Miami Branch, and Nancy Webster Harney, 3790 SW 27th St., is editor of the Owl's Feather, monthly publication of the Branch. * * * BUSINESS PICKED UP AT ELEANOR'S Trick or Treat youngsters had a wet time of it Monday night as they made their rounds, but it took a group of enterprising teenaged girls to turn a "trick" at the home of Eleanor (Mrs. Eric) Newsholme, a staffer at The Times. When the girls arrived it was raining hard, so Eleanor asked them in. Believe it or not, they were on a scavenger hunt and asked for an old lipstick, an old pair of shoes (ladies) and an old skirt. Eleanor produced the skirt first. Then as the rain continued to aid the girls, she looked around and came up with all of the other requirements - the shoes, etc. * * * The Cypress Elementary School at 5400 SW 112th Ct., will be the setting, Tuesday, Nov. 8, Election Day, for the meeting of the Parent Teacher Association. The meeting will consist of an open house from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., and the PTA is inviting all those coming by to vote, since the school is the voting place for Precinct 193, to partake of donuts and hot coffee. The school building is new, about two years old, and many in the vicinity may be seeing the inside of it for the first time.
