Country Fair To Raise Funds For Hospital
South Miami Auxiliary, a group of women who work in and for the betterment of South Miami Hospital, are sponsoring a two-day country fair later this month to raise funds for a hospital service elevator. Auxiliary officials estimate the elevator will cost between $8000 and $10,000, which will be paid for through the sale of items at the fair and money taken in from a dance, a spaghetti dinner, an ice cream social and rides. Biggest Ever The fair is slated to be the biggest such event ever held in the city. It will be held Friday and Saturday, Nov. 18 and 19, in an area directly opposite the hospital. For sale will be homemade baked goods, jams and jellies, handmade gifts, plants, white elephants and rummage items. The ice cream social will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the fair grounds. Serving will be Future Nurses Clubs of Coral Gables and Palmetto High Schools and Tallet Club of Coral Gables High. The spaghetti dinner will be at 5 p.m. Saturday at the fair grounds. It will be cooked and served by Auxiliary members. The Polka A polka dance will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the fair grounds. A parade to stimulate interest in the fair will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 19. Line of march will be through the city to the fair grounds. General chairman is Mrs. Emerson Moran. Co-chairmen are Mrs. Charleton Ames and Mrs. Joseph Nesbitt.
