Mrs. Faye Britt Wins Gerth Golf Trophy
The Country Club of Coral Gables Women's Golf Association of the Elmer Gerth Trophy Tournament is Mrs. Faye Britt, who scored 160 low net and low putts. The 36 hole tournament with handicap was played Wednesday (18 holes and Friday (18 holes.) Handsome silver trophies starting with a silver tea and coffee urn as first prize were awarded the following: Mrs. Tony McCrackin tied with Mrs. Al Mather, each scoring 161 for second. Next in order were Mrs. Clifford Snyder, 162; Mrs. Albert E. Bachman, 163; Mrs. Don Stephenson, 164; Mrs. Dan Tarullo, 165 and Mrs. Glenn Wood, 167.
Miss Emory Semi-Finalist
Madeline Ann Domning, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Loyal G. Domning, 715 Altara Ave., was selected as a semi-finalist in the annual Miss Emory contest. Miss Domning is a sophomore in the college and a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.
Woman's Club Sets November Events
The Coral Gables Woman's Club has scheduled six meetings for its members in the first two weeks of November with five slated for the second two weeks. On Monday, a business session followed by brunch is set for 11 a.m. Mrs. M. C. Weir is program chairman. The program, entitled "Sriafta Cilup", means Public Affairs if read backwards. Ike Cahail will be guest speaker. His topic, "Our American Heritage," will stress the importance of our privilege to vote and tell how history and legislation gave precious possessions to the American People. Born In Alaska Mr. Cahil, a retired chief petty officer of the United States Coast Guard, was born in Alaska. He is an area manager of the Dade Carnegie courses. Also on Monday at 7:45 p.m., Mrs. Lloyd Rees, 1418 Cecelia Ave., chairman of the Fine Arts Department, will be the hostess for a meeting of the poetry group, with a lesson in free verse the subject for study. 'Orchids To You' The club's annual ways and means luncheon and fashion show entitled "Orchids To You" will take place at noon Wednesday at the Kings Bay Yacht and Country Club with Mrs. Melvin P. Rajal, chairman of the ways and means committee, chairman. Today, the art class of which Mrs. James W. Beville Jr. is chairman will meet at 9 a.m. on Saturday the millinery class will hold a session at 9 at the club-house.
Demi-Arts Club Sponsors Ball
The Demi-Arts Club sponsored a Halloween costume ball, Saturday, Oct. 29, at the Cutler Ridge Regional Shopping Center. Chaperons were Mr. and Mrs. Chet Girdler, Mr. and Mrs. Gaddis Hall, Mrs. E. K. Tomory, Mrs. L. G. Culbertson, Mrs. Fred Epson, Mrs. John Howarth and Mrs. M. H. Hooper Jr. The club is making preparations for another "teen" dance in November.
Bride-To-Be Receives Ring On Birthday
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph C. Neuenschwander, 5850 SW South Waterway Dr., announce the engagement of their daughter, Joyce Marie, to James Alexander Granere Jr. of Miami and Pakistan and the late Mrs. Granere. The bride-elect received her ring on her birthday, Oct. 16, when her parents gave a dinner at the Everglades Hotel in the couple's honor. Both Joyce and James were graduated from Southwest High School and both were members of the school band. Joyce plays the clarinet and James the tuba. Joyce received a band scholarship at the Uiversity of Miami where she is a member of the freshman class and of the band. Her fiance is working while awaiting Air Force orders. Beginner's Bridge
A new day class in beginner's bridge will start Friday, Nov. 18, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The Goren method will be taught by Mrs. Olga Poe.
Little Flower Society To See Lourdes Slides
The Society of the Little Flower will hold its monthly meeting on Monday, Nov. 7, in the school cafeteria, 1270 Anastasia Ave., at 8:15 p.m. The program will include colored slides of a visit to Lourdes, the Shrine of St. Michael and the Shrine of The Little Flower. The slides will be shown by Mrs. John T. Watters.
Delegates Travel To Bradenton
Representing Alpha Mu chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha International Sorority at the state board meeting held in Bradenton, Oct. 22, were Mrs. Edmund Hicks, 11450 SW 92nd Ave.; Miss Salome McNab, 1000 NW 29th Ave.; Mrs. E. B. Roberts, 3126 NW 23rd Ave.; and Mrs. Harry Piepgras, 4424 East 8 Ct., Hialeah. Mr. Hicks and Mr. Piepgras accompanied the members to Bradenton. An Auxiliary was formed of all state presidents. Alpha Mu was honored by having Mrs. Shannon Page, 7470 SW 134th St., as a member. This Auxiliary will serve as a committee to appoint judges for the various competitive contests at state conventions.
Navy Mother's Club
The Miami Navy Mothers' Club 741 will hold its regular monthly meeting Monday, Nov. 7, at the YWCA, 114 SE Fourth St. The meeting, which will begin at 10:15 a.m., is open to the public.
