The tooth, the whole tooth and nothing but the tooth, as Bob Benchley once put it. Did you know that a Gables club group operates a dental clinic for the needy and that last year more than 600 treatments were made here? Read about the work being done by the Coral Gables Junior Woman's Club. A story with photographs will appear soon in your Coral Gables Times.

Set June Wedding Date

Dr. and Mrs. Eugene M. Davis, Manchester, Conn., announce the engagement of their daughter, Nancy Tuck to Alan Roy Dynner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Dynner, 1520 Ancona Ave. A June wedding is planned. A graduate of Cushing Academy, Ashburnham, Mass., Nancy is a senior at Wheelock College, Boston. Her fiance, a graduate of Coral Gables High, was graduated Magna Cum Laude from Dartmouth College last June where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He is attending Yale Law School. NANCY DAVIS

PEOPLE

Mr. and Mrs. R. W. VanBrunt, 750 Malaga Ave., had as their guests last weekend Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. Davis of Tallahassee. Mrs. Davis is the VanBrunts' niece; her husband is secretary of the Florida Senate, a job he's held for 35 years. We happened to be talking to Mr. VanBrunt on another matter when we learned of his visitors last weekend so we asked him what they did: "Oh, took in the races and the ball game. A good time." Mr. VanB. is the retired secretary-treasurer of Cities Service Oil of Florida. * * * Two local girls tied for first place in piano competition at the recent convention of the Florida State Music Teachers Association held in Tallahassee. The two winners, Joyce Arce, daughter of Mrs. Antonio Arce, 821 Medina Ave., and Lillian Buss, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chester Buss, Opa-locka, are pupils of Peggy Neighbors Erwin of Paradiso Ave. They will represent Florida at the national convention to be held in Chicago in March. Also playing in Chicago will be Rochelle Drazier, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Drazier, 591 SW 51st Ct., last year's state winner and also the Silver Knight Award winner from Coral Gables High School. Mrs. Reginald McAll, 760 Anastasia Ave., will entertain members and guests of the Miami Music Teachers Association at a Christmas supper meeting at 6:30 Saturday. * * * Dr. and Mrs. Richard Strain entertained Sunday with a small luncheon gathering for Adolphus Paterson, a visiting Negro free lance writer from Accra, the capital of Ghana, perhaps better known by its pre-independence name of the Gold Coast, Ghana is in West Africa and the 35-year-old visitor is on a six months' State Department-financed tour of the U.S. The Strains are hosts periodically to international visitors, routed to them by the State Department which uses a number of Dade Countians to help make foreign visitors feel at home while here. Sunday's guest, Mr. Paterson, is the Time magazine free lance "stringer" in his country as well as serving other publications and news services.
