Here's a game designed to give you double pleasure. It's fun to read and actually fun to play, too. Try your luck. The winner gets a rare luxury
THE RULES OF THE WEEKEND GAME are simple: The object of the players is to get through the usual, hectic weekend in the suburbs, accomplishing all duties, performing all chores, attending all social functions, and surmounting all emergencies—and still squeezing in some relaxation. The winner's prize is possession of the sofa for a nap. Two or more can play. There are no age limits—and children can enjoy the game like anyone else. Each competitor selects a marker of his own to move. A marker might be a peanut from last night's party, or an olive pit, a button, or even the screw that fell out of the kitchen cabinet last summer. Each player, in turn, tosses two coins (any denomination) to determine the number of squares he must move. If two heads turn up, he moves one square. If two tails turn up, he moves two squares. If a head and tail turn up, he moves three squares. Blanks on the board, and spaces with direction arrows, count just the same as any other squares. Any number of markers can rest on a particular square at one time without affecting any player's move. The winner is entitled to his nap on the sofa without any disturbance. Losers must tiptoe from the room, turning down the hi-fi as they go. (The mere fact that they also survived the weekend should be reward enough for them.) SUBURBIA TODAY
