COMPARING NOTES are actress Shirley Knight, left, and U.M. drama student Susan Heller, who was getting ready for the upcoming Shakespeare Festival which opens July 10.

Shirley Knight 'Sweet Bird' Starlet In 'The Ring' at UM

Hollywood star Shirley Knight dropped in at the University of Miami over the week end as the guest of Dr. Delmar Solem, chairman of the Drama Department. Miss Knight, a star in the movie "Sweet Bird of Youth," and Academy Award nominee, for her role in "Dark at the Top of the Stair," toured U.M.'s Ring Theater, being readied for the annual Shakespeare Festival. The Festival opens July 10 and runs through August 15. Miss Knight was accompanied by her actor-producer husband, Gene Persson, and Miami attorney Charles Ashmann. The trio recently founded a new motion picture production company with offices in the Dupont Plaza Center in Miami. Facilities and talent at the University of Miami may be used in upcoming productions under a cooperative arrangement discussed with Dr. Solem last week. "I have assured Dr. Solem," said Miss Knight, "on behalf of Persson Productions, Inc., that we enthusiastically accept and shall avail ourselves of every opportunity to use the facilities and assistance so generously offered. "It is wonderful to realize we are so close to such a mine of young talent and such fine drama facilities."

For a Cool Summer try Raub's Customized Service At Every Day Prices

DO YOU know what two ingredients are essential for air-conditioning your home or office satisfactorily? In summer almost everyone's thoughts turn to air-conditioning in one form or another. Perhaps you've felt its benefits in restaurants or movies and decided this is the year to make your home more comfortable. Maybe you are thinking of air-conditioning the children's bedroom for better sleeping during the hot weather. Or you may have bought a unit in a hurry in the past and are not sure it is giving you the best service at a low cost of operation. Whatever your individual situation, Raub's Appliances, Inc., at 5131 SW 8th St. has two things to offer which should be investigated. Each is of great importance to the man who is going to invest in air-conditioning installation. One can be found in "Mr. Raub" himself; expert knowledge combined with complete reliability. The other is the new and impressive product he can offer: the Chrysler-AIRTEMP. Chrysler is a well - known name in America and this company has put its technicians to work to produce an air - conditioner which is outstanding. Primarily, of course, it is engineered to do a superior job of air-conditioning and its high quality is evident throughout from the smallest coil to its washable filter. In addition, care has been taken to see that you get more BTUs for each dollar of electricity used, an important factor to anyone. The Chrysler AIRTEMP comes in many models and sizes so you can be sure of finding the most efficient machine for the use you have in mind. There is even a special version for casement windows which can be installed, using just four screws, with no outside overhang and no window alteration. The lady of the house might be interested in the very unusual decorating possibilities of the Chrysler AIRTEMP. The front surface panel may be painted to match the walls, or even upholstered in fabric of the same material as draperies or bedspread in the room in which it will be used. And everyone will be happy with the extremely low noise level of this unit. If you have an older machine which makes an unpleasant sound or even one of which you are constantly aware, come into Raub's just to listen to the Chrysler model he has in operation. You will also be surprised at its compact size and its really attractive appearance. If you operate the sliding panel, you will see the efficient design of the air-directors which can be adjusted so easily and in so many ways that the unit is actually draft-free. You will not have to stoop to operate the convenient and easy - to-read controls. But this is a very modern age we live in and to take complete advantage of what is available in technical improvements, one must have more knowledge than the average man will possess in this field. Here is where Raub's, with its policy of providing custom service at every-day prices, will make a priceless contribution. No two homes are alike in space or furnishings; no two people are alike in what they expect or need in an air-conditioner. You will want the machine that is best for your uses, and you will get what you want only by dealing with someone who has real knowledge on a do-it-yourself project. For example, are you a person who enjoys an atmosphere cold enough to preserve meat? Or do you prefer to have just the edge of the heat taken off so that the shock of going outdoors is not so severe? If you have an asthma sufferer in the house, do you know which unit will provide the most humidity? Or are you primarily concerned with keeping mold out of the closets? No one air - conditioner can be all things to all people, and Raub's will take the time to make sure your tastes and your air-conditioner are in harmony. Mr. M. F. Raubfogel, owner of Raub's Inc., will do far more than hand you your purchase as you go out the door. He inspects the premises first, talks with the people concerned, and takes pride in applying his knowledge to your individual situation. Thereafter, he is equipped to handle the entire job with the facilities at his command — installation, electrical work, insulation, and financing arrangements to fit your budget. A free air-conditioning survey, made by calling Raub's at HI 5-1328, may start you on your way to a happier summer. Mr. Raubfogel has been in business for thirteen years in Miami, and his basic philosophy surely accounts for his many satisfied customers. "Mr. Raub" grew up while his father was operating a country store on the sometimes forgotten principle that a man's word is his bond. "Mr. Raub" did not forget. A man's handshake over a promise would be the same as a written contract, he believes, and he puts this policy into practice in all his dealings. Unusual decorator possibilities are available with the Chrysler Airtemp Air conditioner. You can upholster the front panel and match your draperies or bedspreads.
