End of School Fete at the Hendricks'
A PATIO, bathed in the soft sun of the late afternoon, is a delightful spot to converse with your friends, as these girls are at the Hendricks' informal get-together. Mrs. Ben E. Hendricks and her daughter Jo Anne, a graduating student at Coral Gables High School, gave parties on the last day of May. Mrs. Hendricks had her's in the morning, Jo Anne entertained her friends from 4 to 6 p.m. in the afternoon. The Hendricks home at 3720 Granada Blvd. is Colonial in design and set deep in the broad green lawn with towering trees on the sidelines. The yard in the back never ends; it runs right into the back nine of the Biltmore golf links. Coffee was dispensed from an heirloom silver coffee pot at one end of the dining room table while a large bowl at the other held punch. Tiny sandwiches and cakes were served. Assisting Jo Anne, who wire a pink and white cotton, were Carolyn Keefer, Susan Worley, cousin of Jo Anne's; Brenda McCarter, Bebe Parker, Carol Cole, Jena Latimer and Jo Ann Morris. Nearly all of these girls will graduate this June. Then it will be college in the fall. In addition, there was the signing of the "Cavaleon," yearbook dear to the hearts of the graduates. Mrs. Jack Hayes Worley, Mrs. Hendricks' sister, assisted at both parties. SERVING one another hors d'oeuvres are Mrs. Ben Hendrick, left, and her daughter, Jo Anne. (Times photos by Raymond Lang). WAVING good-by as she leaves the Hendrick party is Minta Severud, 4800 Pine Dr., South Miami. She was one of several dozen girls who dropped in at the Hendrick home on Granada Boulevard.

We also sell a funny-looking car.
© 1961 VOLKSWAGEN OF AMERICA, INC. We also sell a funny-looking car. We sell a car that looks like a beetle. And a station wagon that looks like a bus. But we (and all our fellow VW dealers) think of them a little differently. We think both VWs look just like what they are. The VW Sedan carries 4 people. The station wagon carries 8 (bag and baggage). The wagon also handles a staggering amount of just stuff. (It has 170 cubic feet of space, compared to about 105 in conventional wagons.) Both VWs have air-cooled rear engines. (No water or anti-freeze needed; terrific traction on ice and snow.) Both park in practically the same space. (The wagon is only 9 inches longer than the sedan.) Both defy obsolescence. (Nobody knows what year Volkswagen you drive. Except you.) And both have restored a sense of proportion to the size of cars. The VW Sedan is a pretty familiar sight, so not too many people laugh at it any more. But the VW wagon is still good for a few chuckles. Suggestion: have some fun yourself. Come and take either or both for a ride today.
