Coral Gables attorney Ainslee R. Ferdie, 46, who lead the first group of Americans into Israel after the Yom Kippur war, is now the leader of the national executive committee of the Jewish War Veterans. Ferdie, former chairman of the Dade County Urban Renewal Agency, is past president of the Coral Gables Bar Association. Polish summer Jerome Kos of 5501 SW 64th Ave., has returned from a summer of study in Poland. Kos, along with 34 other Americans, studied the socialist economy of Poland in a course called "Introduction to Poland for Businessmen," held July 7 to Aug. 5 in Wroclaw. Military mentions James E. McKinney, son of Mr. and Mrs. Israel L. McKinney of Cordova Street in Coral Gables, has been commissioned a second lieutenant in the Air Force. The lieutenant, an FIU graduate, will now report to Ft. Rucker, Ala., for training and duty as a helicopter pilot. Airman Larry Scott, son of Mrs. Mollie Scott, 10940 SW 184th St., has been assigned to Keesler AFB, Miss., after completing basic training. The airman, who will receive specialized training in communications, is a 1976 Killian High School graduate. McKinney Scott Navy apprentice airman Mario L. Munoz, 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mario Monoz of 1225 SW 99th Ct., has completed a Basic Aviation Electrician Course. A former student of Coral Park High School, he joined the Navy in November, 1975. Navy Lieutenant, JG Merrill C. Albury, son of Merrill C. Albury of 3315 SW 127th Ave., has reported for duty at the Commander Fleet Activities office, Yokosuka, Japan. A 1961 graduate of Southwest High School, he joined the Navy in April, 1961. Navy Seaman Recruit Harvey S. Knight, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Knight, 5930 SW 48th St., has completed recruit training at the Naval Training Center in Great Lakes, Ill. A former student of South Miami High School, he joined the Navy last May. Marine news Marine Private First Class Eugene K. Schera, 26, son of Mr. and Mrs. Enos L. Schera, Jr., of 8254 SW 47th St., has been meritoriously promoted to his present rank upon graduation from recruit training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C. A 1969 Coral Park High School graduate, he joined the Marine Corps in March. Marine Private Gregory P. Schaefer, 17, son of Dr. and Mrs. Fredric J. Schaefer of 10825 SW 80th Ave., has reported for duty at the Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune, N.C. A 1976 graduate of Southwest High School, he joined the Marines in April. Coast Guard Coast Guard Seaman Kenneth J. Rawa, 23, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry A. Rawa of 21401 SW 99th Ct., has been deployed to the Artic Ocean as a crewmember aboard the Coast Guard polar icebreaker Glacier.
