S'west High plans orientation
Sophomores and new students who will attend Southwest Miami High School, 8855 SW 50th Terr., will have a chaance to get aquainted with their new school this week. An orientation program will be held Thursday, Aug. 26, beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the school auditorium. Mrs. Miriam Pratt, assistant principal for guidance, urges all new students to attend.
Volunteers
If you have a genuine concern for children and can spare some time, the School Volunteer Program needs you. Last year alone, 9,789 men, women and students were involved in the program. Training is provided for any of 19 job categories which may require specific skill. But there are no educational requirements for teaching a boy to bait a hook or listening to a girl tell about baking her first cake and thesesc are some of the things hool volunteers do. For information, contact the School Volunteer office at 371-2491.
WM offerings
West Miami Community School, 7525 SW 24th St., will be offering a variety of new classes this term. Belly dancing, slimnastics, ballroom dancing, tumbling, macrame, pottery, drawing and painting for children, body conditioning, dog obedience, typing for children, modeling, good grooming and photography are just some of the courses. For information drop by the school or call 261-8383 after 2 p.m.
