Att'y General Shevin to dedicate Beth David educational complex

Sunday, Aug. 29, at 10:30 a.m., the expanded Educational Complex of Beth David Congregation South will be dedicated at 7500 SW 120th St. Attorney General Robert Shevin, a son of the congregation, will be the main speaker. The two chairmen of the project, Joseph Handleman and Dr. Jules Minkes, will also be present. The dedication will mark the completion of the first major building phase of the South Dade Campus of Beth David Congregation. A second floor housing an extensive youth lounge was added after the first floor was entirely restructured. Pool party S.H.A.R.E., Singles Having a Refreshing Experience, a Baptist organization which included singles 30 years and over, is having a barbecue and pool party Saturday, Aug. 28, from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. at 10330 SW 91st St. The party is sponsored by University Baptist Church of Coral Gables' Single Adult Department. There is a $2.50 donation per person. For further information, call the church office at 448-4425. Church events There are three special events Sunday, Aug. 29, sponsored by the Unitarian Universalist Society, 7701 SW 76th Ave. At 12:15 p.m., the Alliance will meet at the church. At 1:30 p.m., the Young Adults will meet at Merry Christmas Park, LeJeune and Barbarossa in Coral Gables, for an All Church Picnic. Everyone is urged to bring a blanket and picnic lunch to share. From 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., P.A.C.E. (Performing Arts for Community and Education) will sponsor a concert featuring the Bill Marcus Quintet, also at the church. Learn to listen "The Importance of Listening" will be Rabbi Brett Goldstein's sermon topic Friday, Aug. 27, at 8 p.m., at Temple Israel South, which meets at Sunset Congregational Church, 9025 Sunset Dr. Registration Religious School registration and membership inquiries are now being accepted for the Southwest affiliate of Temple Israel of Greater Miami, the Reform Jewish Congregation which will observe the High Holy Days for the 54th year next month. Campus 'Lock-in' There will be a Lock-In at the Baptist Campus Ministry of University Baptist Church of Coral Gables, 1200 Miller Dr., Friday and Saturday, Aug, 27 and 28. Time is from 7 p.m. Friday, to 10 p m. Saturday. There will be a volleyball match, cartoons, a cookout and love feast.
