News Of The PTA Easter Fashion Preview

By EUNICE TALL M Ol-2294 New fashions will be presented Tuesday at 8 p.m. in "Easter Preview"; a fashion show sponsored by the Kenwood Elementary School Parent-Teachers Association. The show will take place in the cafetorium of the school which will be decorated in a garden scene. Children will model clothes made for them by their mothers. Teachers and parents will also model clothes that they have made. Usherettes for the evening will be girls from the school. Admission is $1. Thanks to Mrs. Earl Malone, president of the PTA and chairman of this event, the "Easter Preview" should be a very enjoyable way to spend an evening. Mr. Grant Ostlund, member of the PTA, has also contributed greatly to this event. Refreshments will be served. Emerson Elementary A "buzz session" is planned for the next PTA meeting of Emerson Elementary School which will be Tuesday at 7:45 p.m. in the school cafetorium. The theme of the meeting will be "Take Time To Work-It Is the Price of Success." At the meeting, questions will be presented for discussion among the membership. Don't forget to attend the Emerson Elementary School annual musical comedy, this year entitled "Heavenly Days," tomorrow and Saturday night. Curtain time is 7:30 p.m. in the school cafetorium, 8001 SW 36th St. Tropical Elementary A film, "Effective Learning In The Elementary School", will be shown to the membership of Tropical Elementary School PTA, Tuesday at 8 p.m. in the school cafetorium. Also at this meeting a nominating committee to choose a slate for next year's PTA officers will be elected. Following the refreshments square dancing will be held. Sylvania Heights Elementary "Daddy's Night", the night the Daddies attend the PTA meeting, will be held at Sylvania Heights Elementary School Tuesday evening at 7:45 in the cafetorium. The theme for the evening is "They're A Little Bit Better." A flag ceremony will be given by Girl Scout Troop 237. Mr. Kenneth Longhurst, member of the PTA, will give the devotional for the evening. Guest speaker Dr. Dean Epley, head of the Human Relations Department at the University of Miami, will address the membership on "The Fathers With Children." Everglades Elementary The next meeting of Everglades Elementary School PTA will be Tuesday at 8 p.m. in the school cafetorium. At this meeting Mrs. Rose Schneebalg, music director in the school, will give a demonstration with the help of the school children on "Musical Education In the School." The Everglades Elementary School Orchestra will be present. A poster contest has organized at Everglades Elementary School to publicize the coming annual talent show. All posters will be on display during the PTA meeting Tuesday. Sunset Elementary Al Hurwitz, supervisor of art education of Dade County Board of Public Instruction, will be the guest speaker at the PTA meeting of Sunset Elementary School, Tuesday at 7:45 p.m. in the school cafetorium. Mr. Hurwitz will speak to the assembled audience concerning the art education program of Dade County schools. Mrs. Ann Bell, art chairman of the PTA, and Mrs. Thomas Hutson, program chairman of the PTA, has organized this interesting program. An art display showing the work of the children in Sunset Elementary School art program will be exhibited during the meeting. This exhibit is under the direction of Mrs. Sara Maddox, school art teacher. Coral Terrace Elementary A panel of teachers of Coral Terrace Elementary School will discuss "Behavior Problems" at the Coral Terrace Elementary School PTA meeting, Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the school cafetorium. Also during the meeting the third grade classes will perform short skits about St. Patrick's Day. Election of PTA officers for the 1961-62 year will be held. Refreshments will be served. Ludlum Elementary Mr. Walter Beckham, attorney, will speak to the membership of Ludlum Elementary School concerning "The Child and His Home" Tuesday at 8 p.m. in the school cafetorium. In conjunction with this topic, the children in the school will display their hobbies. Refreshments will be served. District 12 Meeting A District 12 Parent Teachers Association meeting will be held Wednesday in Pompano. School associates may send one delegate for every 100 people registered as members of the PTA in the school. Rockway Junior High Rockway Junior High, 9393 SW 29th Ter., will organize a Parent-Teacher Association this month as preliminary plans are completed. Mrs. Milton Weiss, president of the Dade County Council of PTA, conducted a recent business session which consisted of the formation of five main committees. Together they form the steering committee which will function until officers are elected later this month. Named to the steering committee are Mrs. Al Hughes, nominating; Mrs. Gerald Brazby [Brazby, laws?]; Mrs. Toby Posner, membership and Mrs. William J. Dwyer, publicity.

Suburban Garden Club Meeting

Mrs. C. J. Drinkuth, of 5950 SW 83rd St., will be the Tuesday morning hostess for a meeting of the Suburban Garden Club. Mrs. H. A. Brennan, president of the 17-member group, will preside at the business meeting. Plans for the club's participation in the up coming April Greater Miami Flower Show will be made.
