Controversial Film Scheduled

Cutler Ridge Memorial Post 315 of the American Legion invites the public to be their guests at a showing of the film "Operation Abolition" at the Cutler Ridge Community Center, March 10, at 8 p.m. It is the House Un-American Activities Committee's version of the San Francisco City Hall riot of May 13, 1960. J. Edgar Hoover called the riot "the most successful Communist coup in San Francisco in 25 years. In addition to the showing of the film, Noah J. Cardin, a member of the Christian Anti-Communist Crusade, will speak briefly and answer questions concerning Communism and its infiltration in our country.

Ransom School Annual Fair

The public is invited to attend Ransom School's annual Roundup Fair to be held on Friday, March 10, on the school campus at 3575 Main Highway, Coconut Grove. During the hours of 3 to 8 p.m. there will be fun for the entire family. Games for the children, dancing and entertainment by a well-known local disk jockey and bargains galore will be available. Supper will be served from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Co-chairmen Mrs. Charles McCormick and Mrs. Finlay Matheson have planned booths offering white elephants, baked goods, plants, books and records. Everyone is invited.

Cave Tenement

A cave in Iraq's wild Zagros Mountains has been almost continuously inhabited for perhaps 100,000 years, the National Geographic Magazine says. Slicing through yards of debris, American archeologists discovered the skeleton of a Neanderthal Man who lived about 45,000 years ago. His right arm apparently had been amputated at the elbow—one of the oldest known examples of surgery.

Good Food In An Old World Atmosphere ... at the Bavarian Pine Tree Inn!

Wonderful German dishes in an "old world" atmosphere are to be had at Hetty Meyer's Bavarian Pine Tree Inn, 2441 SW 37th Avenue (Douglas Road), open daily 4:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 12 noon to 10 p.m. Specialty of the house is the sauerbraten with potatoe dumplings. Mrs. Meyer says that everyone knows what sauerbraten is, but if you don't—"Better come to the Bavarian Pine Tree Inn and try it. You'll love it." Then there's the lobster thermidor—boiled juicy hunks of lobster in creamy wine sauce, baked in the shell. By popular demand — Mrs. Meyer is now serving pigs knuckles with sauerkraut, and knockwrust. The chef of the Pine Tree Inn, is really more than a cook, for he takes personal interest in every single dish he serves. He definitely will not send out an order that doesn't meet his critical specifications. Some customers like a drink with their meals and only the best of imported beers and wines are served. Going tastily with the various meat dishes is the Holland-Hoeneken and German-Loewenbrau, and Wuerzburger Hofbrau, all served in frosted Pilsner glasses. Wine enhancing the fish dishes include the famed white Rhine-Liebfrauenmilch. Representative of the personal touch which diners enjoy at the Pine Tree Inn is the birthday cake which is always ready, and served complimentary, to dinners celebrating birthdays. A favorite scenic attraction at the Pine Tree Inn is the rare collection of 40 Beer Steins. This collection has received much attention and comment from customers that frequent the place. All this goes to make the Bavarian Pine Tree Inn the ultimate in good food and surroundings. South Pacific For Everyone

"For the American tourist with just a few precious weeks carefully budgeted for that overseas holiday, the South Pacific, until now, has been beyond reach. Tahiti and Auckland, New Zealand, were once 20 hours apart by air—and now they are 10 hours from each other. The mounting interest in the South Pacific is not the product of jet-age time saving alone. Among the hundreds of islands, and the thousands of islets, lies the "last frontier"—short of the jungle, the desert, or the snowlands of the globe—for the tourist who seeks the world as nature made it. He will find that world among the enchanted islands of the South Pacific.
