25 Debutantes To Make Bows April 7 At The Coral Gables Country Club

CAROL BELLOMY PAMELA BISHOP SANDRA BURT BEVERLY DIX 25 Debutantes To Make Bows April 7 At The Coral Gables Country Club This is the first in a series of pictures and sketches of the 25 girls who will make their debut in local society on April 7. The occasion will be the third annual Presentation Ball sponsored by the Coral Gables Woman's Club. It will be held at the Coral Gables Country Club. Carol Elwana Bellomy is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harrol Wylie Bellomy of 711 Calatrava Ave. She is a native of Dallas and lived in Texas until 1954, when her parents came to Coral Gables. Carol, who follows an active life, water skiing, bowling, dancing and acting, is a senior at Coral Gables High School. Her elementary education took place at the David Crockett Elementary School, Greenville, Texas, and the William Lipscomb School in Dallas. She was lettered in drama at Ponce de Leon Junior High School and is a member of Modern Dance, the Prom committee and her homeroom treasurer at Gables High. Carol is also president of the Deco-Art Co. of Junior Achievement and the Episcopal Youth Fellowship. She was chosen the 1961 Sweetheart of the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical Institute. Both her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Marshall and paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Geary, reside in Dallas. Her father is executive vice president and general manager of the L. B. Smith Aircraft Corporation of Miami. Her mother is a member of the Coral Gables Woman's Club. Her parents are members of the Riviera Country Club and of the Sand Oaks Country Club in Greenville, Texas. * * * Pamela Jane Bishop is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David P. Bishop Jr., of 10925 SW 65th Ave., and a native Miamian. She attended Coral Way and Pine Crest Elementary Schools, South Miami Junior High and Palmetto High Schools. She served as literary editor of her high school paper and received an essay award. Pamela likes writing and riding horseback. She is a member of Soiree, girl's service club sponsored by the Coco Plum Woman's Club at Palmetto High School, a sister club to the Co-eds, also sponsored by the Coco Plum Woman's Club of which her mother is a member. Her maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Johnson of 4232 NW 11th Pl., Miami and she is the granddaughter of Mrs. David P. Bishop of Newark, N. J. Her father is head of his real estate firm by the same name, a member of the Yale-Miami Alumni Club, the Coral Gables Elks Club and a former director of the Miami Young Men's Christian Association. * * * Sandra Yolanda Burt is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Owen Burt of 2015 Country Club Prado. Sandra was born in Coral Gables, but she was reared in New Jersey and Cape Cod, Mass., and Coral Gables. She attended Natawan, N. J., grammar school; Sea Pines Boarding School for Girls, Mass., and Ponce de Leon Junior High School and Coral Gables High School. Her school memberships are the National Forensic League, National Honor Society, Thespians. She is a member of both the junior and senior boards, was a Merit Scholarship finalist and National Honor Society Scholarship finalist. Petersburg Beach, is her ma- Her hobbies are swimming, tennis, dramatics and reading. Mrs. Eland Rondell, of St. ternal grandmother, and Curtis Burt of Bennington, Vt., is her paternal grandfather. Her father is president of the Keyes Industrial Development Co.; a member of Brown University Club and holds memberships in El Centro, Carriage Club, Wings Club, Racquet Club and the Country Club of Coral Gables. Interesting interlude in Sandra's education includes the summer of 1960, when she with 20 other high school students worked at the University of Miami Marine Laboratory and with the others was made an honorary member of the International Oceanographic Foundation. She also participated on a TV panel show entitled "Youth Asks Business." Sandra has been accepted at Vassar College, Poughkeepsie, N. Y., which she will attend next year. * * * Beverly Anne Dix is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. John Willoughby Dix of 3648 Matheson Ave., Coconut Grove. She was born in Shreveport, La., and reared in Coral Gables and Coconut Grove. Beverly is a graduate of Ponce de Leon Junior High School and Coral Gables High School. Her hobbies are knitting, sewing, cooking and water skiing. She also plays the organ. She is a member of the Junior Assembly, the University Yacht Club and the Riviera Country Club. Her maternal grandparents are the late Miamians, Mr. and Mrs. Robert G. Gorman. Her paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Frank E. Dix, pioneer Coral Gables residents, who reside at 5335 SW 25th St. Her fathe is a member of the medical profession and a member of the Medical Forum. Her parents are members of the Riviera Country Club and the University Yacht Club.

An evening of modern chamber music prepared by Madame Renee Longy will be presented at the Joe and Emily Lowe art gallery by the University of Miami's Music school on Thursday, March 9, at 8:30 p.m. Public, faculty and students are invited to attend. There is no admission charge.
