Mac's Back

The flag's flying daily again at the South Miami Chamber of Commerce and it means executive H. W. MacDonald is back in harness. Mac is most particular to see that Old Glory gets raised and lowered each day. While he was recently hospitalized, the chore was left undone.

ALL FIGURED OUT

A University of Miami mathematician has it all figured out: Constant telephone calls, activity day and night, packages coming in and going out at all hours, honking of horns plus slamming of doors equals a nuisance. The City Commission agreed Tuesday with Assistant Professor Forrest E. Adams' conclusion and directed City Attorney Ted Semple to write a warning letter to Adams' neighbor. Adams lives at 1407 Cordova St. and his neighbors, Dr. and Mrs. Montoro, at 1401 Cordova. Joe Mantinan, assistant to the city manager, identified Dr. Montoro as an important official in Cuba before Castro. Mantinan, who said the doctor told him that he had thousands of friends who came to see him also said he found no evidence of any violations when he recently visited the home nor did members of the Building and Zoning Departments. "Obviously they were prepared for the inspection," said Adams.

Rosasco Renewed

Renewal of contract for five years on operation of a Venetian Pool concession with John Rosasco was approved by the City Commission Tuesday. Rosasco, who is also manager of the pool for the City, pays six per cent of the gross to the City for the privilege of running the business. The arrangement reportedly brought $2,100 in revenue to the City last year.
