Peanut Butter Sandwiches by Rope Is Tree House Way of Life

IN THE TREE HOUSE are the four neighborhood pals who built it. Top to bottom are Bob Blaylock, Steve Carruthers, Bill Eubanks and Lee Howard. There's no place like 'home.' Even when it's a two-story, tree fort with spiraling stairs. Maybe it does sway when the wind blows the 40-foot umbrella tree that houses the fort. Maybe the fort is built from scraps of lumber sifted from dump heaps of nearby homes and apartments that were being built. But to four neighborhood pals — all Times carriers — this fort has been their second home. "And we were going to sleep up there one night, but our moms were afraid we'd roll out," said one of the boys, 11-year-old Lee Howard, 718 Palermo Ave. "You know how scared moms are!" You can't miss the fort as you drive by the home of the William Blaylocks at 724 Sevilla Ave. Your eye first sees the first floor, then you notice the spiraling stairs and then-way at the top — the second floor. "And when the wind blows at night," said Mrs. Blaylock, "the fort creaks, just like a boat at sea." It seems her son, Bill, now 17, started the fort some eight years ago. A couple of years ago, his brother, Bob, began adding to the fort. It was with the help of Lee, Steve Carruthers, 14, of 707 Palermo Ave.; and Bill Eubanks, 12, of 736 Sevilla Ave. The boys have hidden in the fort when they played 'war' and 'hide and go seek.' Mrs. Blaylock has even made them peanut sandwiches and the boys, using a rope, pull up their lunch in a basket.

"Courts are to Serve the People" As lawyer and judge, Henry Balaban has raised his voice in behalf of the people. He introduced the system permitting first offenders to serve sentences on week-ends . . . instead of losing jobs, leaving families destitute, wrecking homes and innocent lives. "Courts can HELP . . . not just Judge" Preservation of marriages, families and homes was Judge Balaban's object in 1956 when he proposed "Reconciliation Courts" to give married couples a chance to solve their problems before losing themselves in the complex divorce courts. Judge Balaban is not accepting contributions from anyone. But your Vote and Help are needed! CAMPAIGN HEADQUARTERS— HI 4-7628—2125 Coral Way. A Jug of Wine & Thou Fine, But Beware Pctge.

Beer and wine vendors, except retail package stores, have been warned to comply with the City's law limiting alcoholic content. City officials have just completed a tour of the various beer and wine bars and grocery stores to warn them, according to Finance Director Kennedy Allyn. The move followed complaints from package liquor dealer Carl Singleton that the law on alcoholic content is being violated. Allyn said alcoholic content must not exceed 14 per cent by weight or 17 per cent by volume. Many wines on sale at local beer and wine bars and in markets exceed the legal limit.
