A PARK IS A GRAND PLACE for boys, girls, and yes, even this little chick. The Coral Gables Junior Chamber of Commerce dedicated their park last Saturday amid the happy shouts of children playing on the swings and monkey bars. One of the children to show up at the park on Hardee Rd. and Caballero Blvd. was Mary Anne Berge and her chick, Dale. The two "buddies" live just next door to the two-and-a-half acre park.

HAVING FUN ON A SEE-SAW is an unidentified little boy who came to play on opening day at the Gables Jaycees' new park. Behind the lad are other children playing on one of the two sets of swings. There's also a sand pile, monkey bars and wide-open grassland for football or softball.

UM To Offer Week Of Shakespeare In Summer

Four weeks of Shakespeare repertory will be presented this summer, July 11-Aug. 5, by the University of Miami on its main campus. It will be the only Shakespeare festival held in the South, according to Dr. Delmar E. Solem, chairman of UM's drama department. Drama professor Jack Clay, executive director of the Festival, has scheduled four Shakespeare plays-two comedies, a tragedy and an historical drama-to be performed in nightly rotation. One Week With performances every night except Monday, the program will offer patrons the entire repertory in a week. The plays will be staged in the air-conditioned auditorium of the university's Joe and Emily Lowe Art Gallery. Players will be selected at public auditions during the annual Southeastern Theater Conference, April 6-8, in Miami at the Biscayne Terrace Hotel. The Festival auditions will be coordinated with tryouts for nine summer theaters of the Southern states, which the conference sponsors. At least a hundred drama students from Southern universities and high schools will attend the conference and participate in the auditions, Clay expects. Rehearsals for the UM Shakespeare casts will begin June 6th. Credit for making the Festival possible is accorded by Dr. Solem to UM drama students who, he said, have raised more than $5000 towards the Festival budget. Tentative production plans are to present "Midsummer Night's Dream," "Taming of the Shrew," "Romeo and Juliet" and "Richard the Third."
