Vows Exchanged In Double Ring Rites

MRS. WILLIAM BURRIS GARRARD On a wedding trip to New York City are Mr. and Mrs. William Burris Garrard, following their wedding Saturday afternoon at the Church of the Little Flower. The bride, the former Elizabeth Jane Harrington, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Vincent Harrington, 26 Veragua Ave. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Ford Garrard of 601 Alhambra Cir. and New Orleans. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a floor length gown of pure white silk fashioned with a portrait neckline, fitted bodice and bracelet length sleeves. Medallions of reembroidered Alencon lace with seed pearls trimmed the bodice and front panel of the bell skirt, which draped to the back extending into a chapel train. Her bouffant triangle short veil of pure silk French illusion fell from a Duchess rose of the silk. She carried a bouquet of Phalaenopis orchids and stephanotis. The bride's four attendants wore identical gowns of ice green delustered satin made ballerina length, the bodice designed in emerald green and rose with brief sleeves and full skirts. Matching shoes and circular brief veils of green and rose completed their ensembles. They carried green and white feathered carnations. They were Miss Bonnie Jo Harrington, sister of the bride, maid of honor, and bridesmaids Patricia Harrington, sister of the bride; Mrs. Robert Knight, sister of the groom, of Ft. Lauderdale and Mrs. Robert Puckett of Charleston, S. C. Louis Ford Garrad was best man for his son. Ushers were Robert Knight of Ft. Lauderdale, Louis Fred Garrard Jr. and Holt V. Garrard, brothers of the groom. The Rev. Peter Reilly officiated at the double ring, candlelight 2 p.m. ceremony. Mrs. Paul Pepin was soloist and Walter Barron was organist. The reception followed the nuptials at the Knights of Columbus in Coral Gables. For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Harrington wore a mauve silk sheath with softly draped bodice and matching accessories. Mrs. Garrard, mother of the groom, wore a hyacinth blue silk chiffon sheath with drapery in panel fashion and matching accessories. Both matrons chose white orchids. Miss Rochelle Reynolds and Miss Sally Snare assisted at the reception. Among out-of-town guests were Mrs. Warren Wilson of Abilene, Kans, Mrs. Michael McGraw of Hialeah and Mrs. David Wahlstad of Ormond Beach. The bride is a graduate of Coral Gables High School. The bridegroom also attended Coral Gables High School, the University of Florida and the University of Miami. The couple will reside at 230 Phoenestia Ave.

Children's Library Adds New Touch

By BARBARA W. FINK Children's Librarian The Coral Gables Public Library would like to extend an invitation to you, parents, teachers and children, to visit our refurbished Children's Division. We have added a touch of color and have done a bit of re-arranging that we are sure you will want to see for yourself. We are happy to announce the establishment of a Jr.-Hi Corner for our younger teenagers, and we hope that all of you will be visiting us frequently and will be browsing among the books set aside especially for you. All of you youngsters in grades four through six will find stories in our Intermediate Fiction Section, and we hope that you, too, will enjoy finding your own books more easily. We would appreciate hearing your comments pro and con regarding our "new look," so the next time you visit your library do take a walk through the Children's Division and tell one of the librarians or assistants just what you think.

Garden Club Plants Palms At Kendall

For the second year, members of the Sunset Garden Club have sponsored something on the flower side of life for 20 girls, ages 11 to 16, who make Kendall (county home) their home. Recently, Mrs. J. K. Williams, chairman of the Sunset Garden Club's Junior Garden Club (Kendall), and members of her committee took eight palm trees to the cottage where the girls live. They were planted four on each side of the walk in Arbor Day ceremonies. Mrs. Harry B. Dean, president of Sunset Club, Raymond Sumrall, director of activities at Kendall, Mrs. Williams and Mrs. Howard Luck each placed a shovel of earth around the young tree roots. Mrs. Luck, who assisted, is president of a new garden club named "Big and Dream." Recently the Sunset gardeners gave a slat house to the Girl's Junior Garden Club. Mrs. Dean, 1215 Alfonso St., is the 1961 president of the Sunset Garden Club founded in May 1952.
